Rear screenwash not working

Featured Replies

The other day i noticed that the rear screen washer spray on my VRS had stopped working. I put this down to the cold conditions & assumed that the pipes or nozzle were frozen.

The next day i tried again & still nothing even though the front sprays were fine. On my way into work (after my crash - see my other thread!) the screenwash is low warning light came on, so i stopped off at a garage & topped it up. But on the way back from work later that day the low warning came on again - wtf!!

Once i got home i noticed that the screen wash was slowly leaking out - by the front tyre, under the screen wash tank. It looks like the hose/pipe for the rear screen has popped off & the tank it now leaking.

So, I've taken a look, but how the hell do you get to the pipes to reattach them to the tank - the tank is so tightly packed in there.

Where do i start?

Cheers.

Did read sometime ago bumper gotta come off.

But hang on a minute, someone more clued-up will be right along to put you straight.emoticon-0148-yes.gif

hhhmmm, quiet today!!

Are you sure it's at the tank end? The bulk head connection is the favorite for disconnecting... If not there then down the side of the rear seat, passenger side under the plastic trim of the door frame, pops apart.. check you've not got a damp rear passenger well.

I only had to take arch liner out when I replaced the pump on the wifes fabia.

But the tank seems to be slowly draining. ie. I'm loosing screen wash. Plus theres a big pool of screen washer just by my front wheel. So this rules out the rear seat & rear boot trim panel problem.

So, if its the bulkhead, do this cause the tank to slowely drain? Or it is another connection thats not been mentioned.

Cheers.

Screen wash under the wheel can be from loads'a the stuff being sprayed on the front screen and then dripping down through the drains.. I thought the same one day myself.. but it had just come off the front.

You are right though, if it's going down without any encouragement somethings not right.

Front sprays are fine though. I just seem to be going through screen wash in a matter of hours.

If it is at the pump end then this will help.

Rear Washer not working

Thanks guys for all your help.

I eventually found out that it was the bulkhead connection:

"2) Behind the brake lines running to and from the ABS unit, on the engine bay bulkhead, approximately behind the top/right corner of the engine. There will be a stub hose coming out of the bulkhead, and the other section of hose will most likely be hanging loose. You will find it easier to unscrew the top of the air filter box and move it out of the way. Then reach in and connect the two sections of pipe. It's possible with one hand, although if you have small hands and arms, it will be easier to use both. Use a cable-tie if you wish, but the above warning applies. Make sure the engine's cold if you have to do this, as you'll be fiddling about next to some potentially very hot parts!"

Once i got the air filter box lid out of the way i snapped the two ends together & the rear washer works again.
