Octavia vRS Steel Wheels and Snow Tyres

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am looking to source some steel wheels and snow tyres for the facelift vRS as the supplied tyres seem to be best at slipping rather than gripping in this weather and this is no fun. Anybody know what size the stud fitting is for these wheels? Dealers want to rush me £330 a corner and I'm sure I can get them cheaper...

Thanks in advance,

Laurie.

£330 a corner??? :o

Loads of info in this forum......but you need minimum of 16" wheels with a PCD of 5x112 and an offset of ET50 or close

Camskill is a good place to get tyres, but its not got any in stock at the moment. Try blackcircles..

Try Farmers Skoda in Leicester and ask for Graham. I paid 61.00 each less 10% for 4.

Thanks, just found a place doing FOUR wheels that size and tyres for £530 delivered...

Think I can see an end to the traction-controlled slug-crawl away from junctions...

Probably the best you will get at the moment-£132.50 a corner providing they have stock. Still a lot though.

Steelies can be had off eBay if you're lucky & can wait!

Just checked out myTyres and they've put up their prices by at least 10% since yesterday (like for like), and things are going out of stock fast.

This makes the £125 Kumhos I looked at yesterday change to a £155 Dunlop, plus they've increased postage from £9.50 to £19.40 PER TYRE for me as I live in Inverness.

Also, just to show what a rip-off tyres actually are, the website loaded in its native German this morning to show the SAME PRODUCT AT 90 Euros!!

No wonder Kwik-Fit are so keen to get your business.

Deutschland Uber Alles.

what's delivery from germany? :p

better to just tough it out for now and buy a set in the summer

My dad just got 4 tyres from Latvia of all places as finding winter tyres in the UK for a SL55 is nigh on impossible. They actually worked out cheaper than mytyres inc delivery!

Very helpful and accept credit card unlike those muppets at MyTyres.

What size tyres would you need for 16" steel wheels? Thinking of going down the steel route for winter time.

205/55R16 91H for Continental Winter tyres - KwikFit have these in stock at about £390 a set fitted including valve, balance and filled with nitrogen.

You have to ring the branches to find any though.

Steelies should be about another £150-£200 on top of that.

205/55/16 if you can find them... ;)

Cheers thanks very much will have a look. Don't think the Octy vRS will look the same with these on though, but still in the interest of safety!!

Hi

I recently got a set of the VW transporter steel wheels off fleabay.

They were £120 + £10 delivery for 4 wheels. I think that its an extra few quid for delivery to the highlands.

They are 16 x 6.0j, PCD 112, ET50. They fit perfectly on my 2010 FL Octy VRS and I have Continental WinterContact 205x55x16h tyres on them - got the tyres at local Kwik Fit for £244.96 (dont know how I managed that).

They make a huge difference in the snow but do still slide a bit on ice but not as much as summer tyres.

Cheers

Dave
