MDI (Mobile Device Interface) not in latest brochure, also is park assist worth getting?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I was in the dealer trying to get them to quote, I noticed that the MDI interface is not shown in the brochure, it's also not on the options list.

However then I got a quote from drivethedeal and broadspeed it was there.

Also has anyone ordered the Park Assist, I doubt I will need it but it looks cool. I'm a bit of a gadget freak. IS it any good, likewise is the Heated windscreen worth getting?

Sorry I was being thick, it's under the "All models" section, would appreciate if someone would let me know about the Park Assist and Heated Windscreen, Waste of money or worth it?

Unless your not much good at parking, I'd give that option a miss and go with the heated windscreen, washer jets and front sensors. I have these on my car and I think they make so much more sense as the car does have a large overhang at both ends and it impossible to properly guage exactly where the back and front is when it comes to parking and it is then all too easy to snag the bumpers.

The windscreen and washers being heated are good thing to have in this current weather. I think that the park assist is a gimmick and will after a while be turned off by most men drivers although I can see women using it as it to most women drivers the Superb a big car and I'm being sexist here but all the women drivers I know all drive very small city cars all of them say that the Superb is just too big for them.

You do not NEED Park Assist.....but you know you WANT it!

Seriously though it does work really well....but the main reasons to have it are;

1) to show off to friends and family.

and

2) to see the double takes of passers by as they see the steering wheel spinning around on its own accord.

Erm... what other reason do you need to have...? :giggle:

My superb has park assist, I have used it twice and both times were to demonstrate to friends/family. Never use it myself, but it is a nice party piece. The biggest problem is that it can and does shred your alloy wheels because the system will attempt to park level with the car in front. If the car in front is a narrow fiesta for example and its right up agains the kerb then your superb will end up either on the pavement or with shredded alloys.

THE park assist is A very good option, it will only shred alloys if the idiot driving it allows it to as in the name park assist the driver has to look in the mirror and use the brake.

i have used mine many times and it has never gone near any curbs parks the car first time every time some people have to parallel park all the time

I just took delivery of my Yeti with said Park Assist. Have used it a few times as it is the only way to park on my street in London. Wow. Just amazing. I used it on the first day I got the car and it parked the car for me in a spot I would not have tried in my far smaller Audi A2! On the Yeti it can park the 4,2m long car in a 4,7m space. That takes some doing if done yourself. Of course one can park in these spaces by one self but in a brand new car you don't know yet it showed its worth to me. In a place like London it would make sense to have. In other cities with mostly mall type parking or bigger spaces you won't use it much I'd suspect - other than as a party trick as mentioned above.

Funny you should say that, but everyone I know who actually has a Superb is a woman. Odd what happens with small samples
