Seat belt chime and light

Featured Replies

Recently in another post the view was that the seat belt chime could not be turned off on cars that had it fitted.

Today I read details of how it can be done on a Passat.

If the Passat has the same comfort module as the Octy, then it may apply to the Octy as well.

Here is the info that was posted:

Recode the cluster, just subtract 8 from the cluster coding (annoying beep

for belts) or 10 to get rid of the light for belts, if the coding is 15xxx,

enter 07xxx or 05xxx.

Perhaps someone could try it and post so that if it does work others could also do the change if they wish.

I cannot try it because our car does not have this facillity.

Hope this is of use

I can understand that the seat belt bong is annoying, but why would anyone want to turn off the warning light? Unless they are

a) medically exempt from wearing the belt

B) one of the numerous ignorant prats who persist in driving around their clapped out pieces of sh!t with no belt on. Usually with a couple of greasy looking five or six year olds standing on the rear seat, also not strapped in.

Seems irresponsible to me.

Ummmm - because we don't need a light to remind us to clunk-click ;)

Does anybody know if this will work on a octavia RS?

Seat belt warning

I have a 2004 Octavia and have grown utterly sick & tired of that damned noise as soon as I switch on the ignition. I asked my dealer to disable it, but they failed. When I asked them again they aparently consulted SkodaTechnical, who searched the 'knowledge base' but failed to find a solution.

It's a pity they did not seach the seat base instead because they could have then done the job properly.

If you look at the seat belt stalk on the driver's side you will notice a thin wire running down it. this is the wire from the sensor in the latch.

It runs under the seat to a two pin connector on a plastic carrier under the front of the seat. Once you have found this connector, unplug it and the system will think the seat belt is latched and will not chime at you any more.

Hope that is of help to someone.

The 2002 Passat however doesnt have the same system as an Octavia 2 so not sure if that would work (assuming you are trying to turn the light off on an Octavia 2).

And some dealers may well be unwilling to do it for legal reasons.

Just unplugged the seat belt sensor on mine & bliss ..... silence, no seat belt warning chimes anymore when starting the car !

Thanks !

can you make this work but leave the warning lamp working?

adam

I tried to disable both the light and the bong with VAG-COM, the light was easy but it still bonged.

Pump up the seat to maximum height, get in the back, reach under seta, disconnect loom from seatbelt clip.
