importing contacts into desire

Featured Replies

Just trying to get my contacts from my Nokia into my new Desire. The Wildfire has an app to import all contacts via Bluetooth, but the desire doesn't seem to? Only option seems to be copy one by one?

Save them to your gmail email and the phone will auto sync them.

Edit: Typo

Back them up in outlook from the nokia, then sync the desire with outlook and hey presto !!!

Top tip ...... If you have numbers saved under "other" rather than mobile, work, etc on the nokia, the desire won't list them. I had to go through outlook and change a load of number to work home, etc to get the desire to see them.

Took me three weeks to work why all my numbers showed in outlook contacts and the nokia but not on the desire.

This works, I synced my Nokia with Notes one last time, then change the PC Suite settings to sync with "Windows Address Book" (this is the one Outlook Express uses) and then configured HTC Sync to use the same address book...

I don't get why the Wildfire has a "transfer data" application and the desire doesn't?

I think I've cracked it via Outlook Express.

Cheers fellas.

I see that you've had plenty of learned help so far but which of the three possible locations did you decide upon to store your contacts - gmail, phone or sim?

On any 'normal' phone I'd always suggest using the phone memory as it overcomes the 14(?) character name limit of the sim card but on an android phone it has to be gmail. In fact if you'd already got a Wildfire then adding your gmail settings to the Desire would have automatically transferred all your contacts across as you set it up.

Edit: Oops - after re-reading it, I'd gone OT and forgot about the Nokia. :S

If you want them a google contacts, then bluetooth them all from your Nokia. Pair them, on Nokia select all contacts>send via bluetooth.
