Octavia Mk 1dogbone mounts -tip

Featured Replies

If you come to change the [gearbox to frame] dogbone mount bushes for Powerflex ones, it's a pretty straightforward job (jack up car, remove 4 bolts, change bushes, refit 4 bolts, let car down) if you bear in mind:

a. to get the bolt off the dogbone, use a 3/8" socket extension bat in the mount to stop it twisting.

b. If you don't have a vice to compress the bushes when refitting the bolt, from below put the end opposite the bolt into one of the higher engine stubs and use your jack on the bolt head end casting to compress the bushes.

c. When refitting the 4 bolts, use your jack to support the gearbox whilst waggling it to get the holes to line up.

Time?30-45 minutes for an average DIY mechanic.

Did you do this because the front suspension rattled?

How funny I have this issue and I bought my car from Redhill, Cousldon.
