outside temp fault? showing as -50 degrees contstantly HELP

Featured Replies

Hi all,

apologies if this post is poor as im a newbie but hopefully someone can help.

I have a Skoda Octavia new shape on a 54 plate, its the basic model no alloy wheels or anything fancy.

Since purchase second hand the outside temperature gauge is faulty, the reading constantly shows -50 degress and does not increase or decrease from that, this shows both on the audio control panel and on the main dash.

Im not sure whether its just a small part that may be needed or a large one, if its a large repair then i wont bother as it doesn't affect the car (DOES IT, AM I WRONG ( TOTAL NEWBIE)

Can anyone help. ANY ADVICE IS GRATEFULLY APPRECIATED,

THANKS

Noticed you're location is Glasgow...it looks pretty cold there when I watch the news...maybe your sensor is accurate! :giggle:

Emigrate!!

Hi

I had a similar problem like this on one of my vans a couple of years ago - it was seemingly the thermistor that sits in the mirror that senses the temperature. I dont think they are very expensive as I think they are just a couple of wires with a blob of 2 different metals on the end - mine was done under warranty so I dont know the cost.

Cheers

Dave

sounds like outside temp sensor fault, located behind the n/s lower fog lamp surround dead easy to fit and does not need any fault codes clearing just fit a new one and you will be up and running again, we see this fault a lot. Phil.
