Gauges

Featured Replies

What gauges are peoples favourites? I want to buy a gauge holder with 3 gauges, they need to be in the blue/red VW style ideally as my interior will be like that soon. I only really need a boost gauge but need to fill another 2 holes but not sure what to get. Any suggestions?

Are the hard to fit to a diesel? Are they accurate?

Given your mods I think I'd be after an oil temp gauge, all the the name or turbo preservation. I have no idea how easy to fit or accurate they are though.

Love what you've done with the car btw. A real quality job.

Cheers.

ive got a swooosh digital stepper boost gauge, easy to plum in as i did the egr delete at the same time and the allard one came with a take off for a boost gauge, just needed to run the hose into the car somewhere then plumb all the electrics in, id be temped too to get a oil pressure/temp gauge, there was a place selling the feed that went through a modified sump plug for the take off which was a neat idea for the oil temp gauge

poor pic but my boost gauge

oh an once you get your new turbo your need a boost gauge with a range that maxes out at 2.5bar, as i believe they run the hybrid 150 at around 2.2 bar,

I`m in the same boat. I want a oil temp, and boost, not sure what to use as the 3rd. My mate has a swoosh gauge, goes to 30psi, just about high enough on his hybrid.

You can find some smart ones OEM looking ones on ebay, they come without loads of tacky writing all over them for about £30. Below is the one I had in my Polo:

Oil Temp

Oil Pressure

Boost gauge.

WIth the Oil temp/Oil pressure gauges, get an sandwich plate that fits between the oil filter and heat exhachger.

I've got my oil temp plumbed into my sump plug though, but obviously you can only use one sender in a sump plug............

vrs turbo - Search Fabia vent pod in google and look at awesome gti's one. I've just sourced another vent and will be making my own (93quid haha no chance)

can let you know how it goes

I have mine on the top din and moved my stereo to the bottom din. currently have boost, oil temp and oil pressure.. but the oil ones rnt connected yet, bit cold atm to faff about under the bonnet, plus its only eye candy for now until I get some more powr for next spring/summer :giggle:

To answer your question though on difficulty of oil installation, I presume its not that difficult, you see where your oil filter is, there's a thing which can be unscrewed on the RHS of the cylinder (I assume this is oil temp sensor). You can bung the extra sensor in there when doing an oil change. Do correct me if im wrong though  .

Question: I find it really difficult to look at it while im driving, esp at pace. Thinking about mounting the boost one on the steering neck bit. I don't see how you guys have time to look at it from the vent or near the trays AND on the road :wonder:

That's how my boost gauge is mounted, from your view it just about covers the centre warning light area, but you usually hear a beep and then look over the gauge :)

I'm having my dash lights changed from green to blue (like VW's) so I've heard the NewSouth Performance Indigo gauges suit the best. They look like this:

Oil Temperature Gauge:

Quite expensive at £370.95 but I think it's gunna have to be done at some point. It would make the interior look quality all lit up in the same colour and you know they're quality gauges too.

Does anyone know if the gauges are 52mm and if they will fit in that gauge holder?
