Matte Black Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

What do we reckon? I've been quoted £850 to have it wrapped matte black. Should I go for it?

Lasts 3 - 5 years and I can just take it off if I need to sell it. Also apparently you don't need to tell the DVLA because its classed as a 'temporary change of colour'.

No idea what insurance implications there are and I assume it will attract a LOT of unwanted attention from the police as well as thieves.

do it im getting mine wrapped next year too, was thinking matt black would look good, that for the door shuts too thats not a bad price, what company was it by interest

... so when the police spot your car and do a DVLA check on it, it comes back silver - which makes them even more interested! I don't see why you wouldn't want to advise the DVLA...

I dont understand why the police would be so interested?! :wonder:

I reckon that if a police officer checked the details of your black car and it came back as being silver they'd probably think it's been ringed. Notifying the DVLA of a change is a simple enough process - why would you not do it and attract unwanted attenton?

If you do go ahead and declare it - I'd make sure to keep receipts and photos etc so you can prove to any buyers why it's had 2 colour changes in its life. Could look quite sus otherwise.

Personally, I'd say no - matte black cars aren't my thing though. Spend £850 on some leather that'll last longer, and increase resale values etc. emoticon-0148-yes.gif

No, im not talking about the original post, saying thieves and police will be attracted to it? I understand the wrong colour bit would cause a issue, but the original topic saw it was ok not to change the colour, therefore what would cause the attention?

Matt black doesn't do anything for me and it takes a special car to pull off the look.

Sorry your wrong about the colour change, you need to tell the dvla because your changing the colour of the car, you'll be a fool not to tell them anyway, you would get so

Much trouble from the police, as mentioned they would run a check it would come up a completely different colour, it wouldn't cost you anything to notify people. But do like the matt black idea though!!!

I'd rather spend that sort of money on something that would benefit the car like already said a leather retrim or a new set of wheels, coilovers etc etc
