Yup...exactly why I tried to go with the different profile.

I might just keep an eye on ebay over the next few weeks, but if nothing comes up, leave it till next year.

Spacers are not the issue here :D Its the size of the tyres. :D

I have yet to try my skinny back wheels on my car, but they are 16s with 175/60 R16 tyres on them. I could also be looking at fouling issues potentially. I only really intended to use them at the Pod anyway.

How about a pair of these in the correct size?

If you had 4 of them, I'd snap your arm off for them.

Well after debating with myself for ages, I went to get some winter tyres today.

Since 205/45/16 are nigh on impossible to get in winters, after reading a few threads on here suggesting they would be fine, as well as checking with my insurance, I got some 205/55/16s.

Did you actually tell the insurance company what SIZE tyres you were fitting? And that they were much bigger? (They're nearly 7% bigger if you haven't found out already - max 2.5% is the guideline...)

Yeah, first thing I did. They took a bit of time deciding, but in the end they said "That will be fine and won't affect your insurance"

Well I'd advise you remove these tyres even so. They're way out of manufacturer's specification and if you have an accident I suggest they may still void your insurance as a consequence despite you having cleared the tyres with them.

Note also this article (my emphasis):

The ABI said providing tyres are fitted by a reputable garage, and in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, motorists should not be charged a higher premium.

Well they were on the car for about an hour yesterday, and I'm now back on my original 205/45/16s.
