Removing factory space saver boot parts...

Featured Replies

Hi all (and sorry if this had been asked before)

We want to remove the raised boot floor and factory fitted space saver spare as it's eating into boot space too much.

99% of the time the vehicle is within 5 miles of home so it's not a huge problem if a puncture occurs. But nice to have for the odd long journey.

If we remove the spare, mouldings around it and the flooring, does anyone know the parts (and part numbers) I need to replace?

This is to get back to the same spec as a non-spare wheel version as produced by the factory with the deeper boot.

Many thanks,

Richard

Richard,

there is another option; swop with someone who wants a spare.

Shame you are so far away!

Wonder when we are going to Manningtree?

Yes, I'd be up for a swap if anyone wants to.

Will probably get a full size spare anyway...

I'm up for it, but it depends when we are coming over to Manningtree.

I found the part numbers on another thread as I have bought the bits as well so I can transport my MTB in the car - spare will have to be loose.

boot floor: 5L683463 £52.34

polystyrene filler : 5L6863957 £26.85

Thats what I was charged for them. I haven't bothered with the flexible storage thingy.

I did this earlier in the year.

I didn't bother with the polystyrene filler, the floor fits ok, just a little flexible. The good thing is that the storage area for the tow bar and tools is still there, and is useful.

I scrounged a car of tyre form for emergency's.

Also very interested: I've got 1.2 SE and been waiting forever for Skoda to be able to provide me with a spare (couldn't have it originally because we've got the panoramic sunroof and you can not have spare and sunroof as factory options) and seems little prospect of one turning up any time soon (even though we've paid for it)

We just along the A12 (but Llanigraham has first dibs...)

Interesting thread... Are any of the with-spare bits fixed to the car? I have a spare and it feelt to me as if the small box on the right that is closest to the driver is fixed? I've not investigated fully as it has been too cold to rummage around in the boot of one's car! I would also like to have this option from time to time to leave the spare at home. OR even get something to fix it to my roof bars if required on longer trips...

It looks to me as if the left hand box and the right hand rear box are screwed in place using large plastic allen key head screws.

Thanks Mike. Should be easy to remove then. As I would have thought since they were all out the day I got the car!

Limited internet so I cannot link but look at the spare wheel guide in the Yeti tech forum.
