PD160 Intake

Featured Replies

Anyone who says this mod doesn't make a difference is crazy!

After getting the vRS mapped my car was leaving plooms of smoke behind on acceleration, so i bought myself a pd160 intake but was dubious as to how much this could help the smoke issue. Now I literally do not get any smoke, i have revved the car all the way to 4,750rpm and even then there is minimal smoke. I'm genuinley impressed with this mod, as much as a rip-off as it is with the prices Seat are charging.

Thought i would share my experience!

Must get one fitted if they are that effective.

do you not question your map when you car is blurting out smoke? There should be very little smoke to start with seen as the car is standard appart from a map and filter. You shouldn't really have to rely on a pd160 intake to limit smoke and through my experiance these pipes are the biggest waste of £100 ever, just my opinion about the waste of money i might add though.

My car was mapped by a mate who works at Volkswagen, i appreciate that means nothing... It may have been done well or it might be ******* my car up. BUT, wether my map is bad or not (probably is?), I know there are other people on the forum who have smokeyness, so although in your eyes this is a rip-off, it has cured the smokeyness of my car and may well do the same for others.

I certainly do agree about it being a rip-off though, wouldn't advise anyone to pay the £97 Seat are after, look for a second hand one and you will pay around £50.... Still bloody expensive for what it is!

Ive had a PD160 intake and panel filter on both a 1.4tdi and my current car, I do feel it makes a difference. And in my opinion even in standard guise the vrs does smoke, my dads old standard one used to belt smoke out when given the beans. Ive found that since fitted with my intake and running the car on nothing but bp ultimate it runs nicely with minimal smoke. However at the current price that seat are asking for it, is a massive ripoff but then again you would spend 100+ on some shi77y short ram induction which would probs hinder performance.

my 2p

if the PD160 intake is such a waste of time/money why did SEAT bother with the part? manufacturers are tight ******s, they don't spend a penny if they can possibly avoid it

I agree, however, to them its a bit of plastic which is a bit larger than the 130 intake.

To us, its an intake worth £100 -.-
