Recirculation Dumpvalve info needed

Featured Replies

Now then people!...How we doing?

Just fitted an "uprated" recirculation dump valve to my mk1 vRS and im just after some information about it.

It came with 3 springs which i assume for different pressures, the car's standard for now to i left the blue spring in. However it came with some sort of what look to be shims? Circular plates with a hole in the center? Not sure what these are for.

Also a black pipe which is 2 - 3 inches in length?

Also the dumpvalve is abit louder than the OEM valve. Is this normal. Around 2 k- 3k RPM i can hear the hissing noise then when i let off the valve obviously opens fully and lets the gasses back into the air box? I was just wondering if i would be loosing pressure and i'd need to fit the shims..

The dump valve in question is the black one off ebay - Click here

Cheers

what colour springs did it come with ???

i thought green was for standard

shims are to fine tune it so not needed on standard

will be louder than oem

black pipe is just to replace the oem bit but not needed really

Thanks for your reply mate..

The spring colours were blue - yellow - red

does the blue feel the softest? :smirk:

forge go by green for stock then yellow stage 2 then blue then red :wonder: depending on boost

whether different people go by different colour tho????????????? :smirk:

The ad says green standard then yellow then red? :wonder: looks like the forge one lot cheaper tho

Yeah, its really good quality tho and well built.

You have a Forge clone DV, but the spring colours are different to Forge. If your car is standard leave the blue spring in. The shims are for fine tuning the DV .

Hissing sound you mention sounds like you may have a split boost/vacuum pipe.

If this is the Mobile ECU Mapping unit, ~£30 off eBay, then it's the same one as mine.

Stock vRS, I opted for the blue spring, which I believe it was supplied fitted with. Car is fine and doesn't unload while giving it some juice. Actually e-mailed the seller and this is what he recommended. I also checked what sort of pressure it took to physically overcome the spring compared to the standard unit, again, blue was spot on, without any shims.

Of course, every turbo system is slightly different, so it may not favour your own.
