Door Card/Speaker panel rattle making me rage...

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

If i have two complaints its the squeaky chair and a really irritating rattle which only goes away when I press on the speaker panel on the passenger door.

The chair I can live with. But the speaker panel is driving me up the wall. When the volume on the radio is up or even when I am pressing on the accelerator i can hear it constantly buzzing. It sounds like a bee is stuck under there.... :'(

I am thinking of ways how to tackle the problem. Obviously i need to put something between the speaker panel and the door card. The only way i can do this is to try and stick some blu tack/foam in there. But because the speaker panel is an integral part of the door card how on earth do i go about getting it in there????

The slats on the speaker panel are very very thin. I am loathe to open the whole door up as one of the torx screws holding the door card is sheared completely and will require drilling out. I will probably bodge it all up proabably!!!!!!!!

I remember having this problem on a B5 Audi i used to own...seems VAG still ain't sorted out how to properly seal speakers..

I'm sure there are a few others that suffer from it too....irritating ain't it!

Yep.

I just had my car serviced.

I also asked them to fix the rattle under the steering wheel, they charged £20 to remove the trim & double check that everything was tight.

Not a bad price I suppose but I forgot to ask about the door rattle, it doesn't do it as often as the steering wheel rattle so I forgot to ask

Man, the plastic handle thingy on the inside of my passenger door buzzes all the time like there's an angry wasp stuck inside it - if I lean across and give it a tug (ooh err) when I'm driving it stops for a few seconds then carries on. Drives me insane. Insane I tell ya. I have a similar problem with the speaker - turning the bass down helps a bit.

I'm going to have a look at mine when I fit new speakers and apply a small dab of silicone at any noticable contact points to take away the room for buzzing, will hit the door panels with some dynamat too, hopefully that will solve it.
