LED rear numbplate light bulbs

Featured Replies

My Furby's lost one of it's bulbs in the rear numberplate plinth for the numberplate, it's popped!

My mates got a Golf mk5, and has fitted LED Rear numberplate lights to his, and they look very nice, bright, white, subtle.

Anyone know whether these will fit?

They'll fit!

If you're prepared to wait for about 10-14 days you can get them cheaper from HK!

they tend to go in a short time too. Well they flicker...

Really?

What site please?

I got my numberplate LEDs from eBay, the seller is acepartsuk and they have been excellent, one was flickering a couple of months back and they sent me a replacement :)

Same can't be said for sidelight LEDs though, they have been in about 4 months and one has blown and the seller won't replace it !!!! w@nkers (different seller to the numberplate LEDs) so I've gone back to standard sidelight bulbs !

You sir are not the only one. I am fed up now with LED sidelights. I have already had one go after one month, duly replaced. Now I've sent the other one back, I have had no correspondence from them, I will chase them after Christmas. Frankly though, I just cannot be bothered any more, which is a shame as the LED's are so much brighter than normal bulbs. I just don't want the hassle of taking them out every few weeks!

Instead of buying the cheapest ones you can find on eBay buy them from a proper shop in the street that way if one does die you can simply go back to the shop. Alot less hassle.

Best standard sidelight bulbs are Osram 21d halogen cool blue ones, they're probably the brightest and whitest you'll get without going LED, at least in an e-marked road legal bulb.

Problem is, I bought some rather pricey ones, not cheap ebay specials. Fact is LED's just don't last in hot places next to the headlight (even if they are described that it is ok).

Do you have any pictures of them in action? It's the brightness, not the colour, that I'm after.
