Auto socks

Featured Replies

I thought i would post my first impressions of using Autosocks from autosocks.

Good:

Relatively cheap option at £65 a pair (you only need to fit them to the drive wheels)

Great grip - drove up a hill today that another Octavia failed to make after 10 mins of trying and me pushing too. Autosocks took the hill with ease and subsequent side roads.

Not so good:

Were a bit of a sod to fit. Partly because it was the first time i had fitted them and there is certainly a knack, but also if you have a lowered car then you WILL get your hands marked up. Some kits supply gloves too, but mine didn't, so you also tend to get a bit filthy.

Given they are a fabric, they will tend to wear out relatively quickly. I don't know how quickly, as it will depend upon how fast you drive (recommended max 50 kph) and how many non snow/ice surfaces you drive on (which will increase wear rate).

Overall though, they have already got me up a hill that i would have failed to without them.
