Felicia blower fan

Featured Replies

Hi Skoda people, I'm a newbee on here..........................

The blower fan on my V reg felicia diesel has started to cut out. It will switch on ok at start up, but then over about 30 seconds slow down and stop. It will come on intermitantley for a few seconds on and off withhout warning during the journey. Any thoughts? Is it a faulty resistor? The fan is good and strong when it does come on.

Mine did that for a while and would sometimes come back on when cornering. I cleaned the motor brushes out and it's been fine for a few years now. It's been a while so I can't remember how but it wasn't difficult. The motors aren't cheap as I remember. It was either that the brushes were sticking in their tracks because of the dirt build up or the muck on the commutator itself was stopping a good connection but it wasn't difficult to withdraw the brushes and give it all a clean. I vaguely remember sliding the motor out to one side to get at it.

I've had a couple do this sort of thing, it's always been either loose connections to the resistor or motor, or the brushes, whose springs sometimes fail (last one I had had just broken, easily replaced with a tension spring from eBay).
