Hi guys..

After many weeks of looking through the site, I wanted to take the time to formally introduce myself and detail my plans going forward next year (for anyone interested).

My name is Pete, from London. I decided to join the Skoda club around 6 months ago by purchasing a ‘05 MK1 VRS

Recently I was very close to selling up (taking out some finance) and purchasing something a little quicker (Evo 7 / Subaru sti / mk4 r32) . After much thought i have made the decision to keep the Skoda turning it into a track day car

Please bear in mind I’m not very technically minded when it comes to cars, however I will be “learning on the job†hopefully with the help of the kind souls on this website (and lots of googling :wonder: )

I would consider the car to be a very solid base, a mark 1 VRS with 33k on the clock FSSH. Below are some pictures of the car …

Any comments or advice would be greatly appreciated. I’m not planning to go mad but have a few ideas floating around my head:

1) Strip interior replace OEM seats with sparco race seats, remove carpet and unnecessary trim

2) New front tyres

3) Cold air feed

4) FMIC + remap (revo maybe??)

5) Updated disks + pads - no idea which ones

6) Eventually mid 2011 a nice set of coil overs

7) WRC spoiler

regards,

P

get the handling and stopping sorted first

fast car evo yes subaru yes mk4 r32 no lol

what is the use of the car??? you look like you have kiddie seats so wtf are you stripping the interior out for??

A rear anti roll bar is a must so should be on your list, if it's going on the track then maybe think about upgrading the front roll bar aswell and maybe the cast wishbones with suitable bushes. Theres plenty of threads regarding these mods.

I wouldn't bother with the wrc spoiler the car looks better as is (IMHO).

But other than that it's not a bad list and I'm sure others will add to it and spend more of your hard earned for you :giggle:

EDIT: just seen there's no mention of an exhaust with either sports cat or de cat so add that to the list

R32 is a nice car and a very good base car for performance, but as Westallc states is not a quick car in league of the Evo 7 and Scooby STi, and it is a heavy car so to have approx 240 BHP from a power to weight ratio is actually not far off the Octy VRS.

I happen to like the R32 and it's chassis and 4x4 drive can handle lot's more power to make it a very good car. But as it shares similar platform to the Octy 1.8 t 4x4 that car could also be used to make a track weapon or even go for a Audi S3 which uses the R32 running gear with a more upgradable engine.

I have to ask why would you strip a reasonably new last year build date (05) VRS with very low miles on it as a track car. Perhaps you could sell that for good money and get a much cheaper VRS for track use and have money to spend on it for the mods?

just my thoughts
