how crap is the heater in your vrs?

Featured Replies

worst car ive ever had for heater...takes about 5 mile before temp gauge actually moves....wots everyone elses like?

I was surprised at how fast the VRS warmed up compared to my brothers Seat Altea tdi, sometimes the altea doesn't even make it to 90.

but getting heat quickly is about the only time I miss a pertrol lol

Diesel engines are very thermally efficient, therefore in cold weather they take a very long time to warm up. My superb diesel is the same, it took 8 miles yesterday before the temp gauge started rising towards 90c, but it was well below 0c outside. The colder it is, the longer it takes to start warming up, its the same for all diesels no matter what make and why in colder climates you can specify auxillary heaters.

And it takes even longer if you have an EGR delete :(

It's a diesel? Iv not had a diesel yet that warms up quickly

i live n learn then... :peek:

IF we get a diesel again, it will have heated seats, for sure! Although all things considered, a small turbo petrol is more likely to get bought, so if we get more cold winters, we'll be super-toasty! :giggle:

You'll find the interior warms up quicker if you have it on recirculate, but even then its not going to get hot hot until the engine gets up to temp

My car takes around 5 mins to warm up and i have heated seats for that 5 mins, but mines is a petrol :giggle: and once warmed, i think it's got the hottest heaters i've ever had in a car, usually have to put it down half way to a bearable temp :)

And it takes even longer if you have an EGR delete :(

Well that explains my situation then.. Haven't deleted it but had it turned right down.. Temp gauge only just getting towards 90 by the time I've covered 10 miles. I was sure it used to get warmer quicker than that last winter.

Luckily though, it seems to start making enough heat to warm up the interior after a mile or so...

My vRS is very slow to get any heat to demist and defrost the inside of the front screen. The Focus I drive at work is equally rubbish though I miss my Mondeo which had the gucci Ford Winter pack with heated front and rear screens and quick clear button I've never seen anything defrost so quick without even having to get an ice scraper or can of deicer out.

my heaters take a little while to get warm and my windscreen was crap at demisting untill i changed my pollen filter recently made a world of difference and the heaters are now hotter as there is air coming through lol

My fabia (when its running!) does take ages to warm up. But my Touran has an aux Webesto diesel heater which warms the car quickly! :)

mines takes ages aswell bout 20mins to demist in the mornings, getting absolutely crap mpg at the minute aswell 14.5 !

so taken to driving my mums ibiza now aswell, heats up in no time and is far better than the vrs in the snow but that probably due to 17" 8j vs 15" 6j

The temp gauge starts to move from cold after about 3-4 miles of steady driving and once it does I put the fan on 1 to start heating inside and after about 10 mins the gauge is half way which is where it stays.

My heaters are roasting on full heat so usually have it half way, 22 I think it is ?
