No boost and codes...HELP!

Featured Replies

Hi guys, any ideas would be great.Recently the cars been misbehaving, popping more than usual :giggle: ,and going into limp mode.Is it the cold (-10 all day)? Went out after work to start it and the boost gauge was stuck at 0psi? could it be frozen? It misses when you rev it a bit.Ive put the snapon code reader on it and pulled the codes :17743-limp mode,16622-map sensor,16490 and 17063 which i dont know what to make of. Last year it did a similar thing in the same month with the code 16622 but it sorted itself!

Could i just need a new MAP sensor?

sounds like map sensor is playing silly buggers

When i cleared them after it warmed up it drove ok down the motorway but then got to the slip road and it went back into limp mode again and struggled to rev properly.Any ideas how much a MAP sensor is? is it the cold that highlights the failing MAP sensor?

Hi,

there is also chance you have an unwanted air leak on inlet side of manifold and making you thinking its the faulty air mass sensor. Better check this out before fitting new air mass sensor as they are not cheap.

I recon it's gone into limp mode with a 17743 fault code........it's not easy this stating the bleeding obvious thing. emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

......but seriously. What boost pressure are you running?

Was running 20+ psi but now 5psi when i ran it,now just staying at 0psi even when at idle?

I would say it's tripping the boost limit on the map, possible due to colder intake temps. Does not explain the 0 figure at idle on the boost gauge. May even be wastegate problems hence the over boost into limp mode. Does it stay at 0 even when you clear the codes or does the code come back before you run the car again?

Just noticed your 279lbs figure, have you got a graph showing that torque spike.

Yes ive a graph showing the results.Look under my posts "rolling road results" . I was well chuffed with the results. After the decat it feels quicker still...but i know some will say impossible. No real spike just a superbly mapped car.The car is now fixed after the garage fitted a new MAP sensor.Because i rarely use the car it got so cold up here that moisture froze on it!!! :dull: Now up forsale on pistonheads.
