Running in a Fabia MkII VrS

Featured Replies

What's the recommended way to "Run In " a Fabia MkII Vrs.

" Does the gearbox adapt to your style of driving?"

Thanks

We didnt run ours in after the garage said, "er..... Why? ...Just drive it!"

Yes it does learn your driving style too

Coming from a mechanic - just drive it gently for the first 1000 miles, no high revs /sudden kickdowns. But i would also agree with chrisr, that a modern egine dosen't need a strict running in procedure!

From another mechanic, give it some :)

Always tell an engine thats been bedded in properly

Agree with Ross, do not treat it like a baby, get it warm and give it some :)

One mechanic says be gentle the other says give it some. Before driving it I would seek advice.

Agreeing with much of what has been said. But...read the handbook...the section on 'Running In Your New Engine'. You don't have to do much these days but generally...don't go too easy with the throttle or stay at constant engine speeds when cruising on motorways etc. Vary the load on the engine frequently, avoid labouring the engine at low revs or using too higher revs and use the gears much more than usual. Keep a close check on the engine oil during the bedding in period and it'll be fine. If you really want to do the best you can for your engine, stay out of too many traffic jams during the bedding in period, and avoid short trips where the engine doesn't warm up properly. Agree with Tech1e, you can always tell an engine that someone has taken the time to run in properly often by driving it and certainly by taking the head off and looking at the cylinder bores, not that I'm suggesting anyone does that of course. Just enjoy!
