How do you turn off headlight washer function?

Featured Replies

Yes, they aren't the brightest. I just don't think the jets are worth the amount of screenwash they use.

Not if you have the SE standard lights. Agreed for the Xenons but not for standard halogen lights. Not so obvious after all.

While not as bright as xenon’s dirty or poorly aligned halogens can at best be annoying, at worst simply dangerous.

Pulling fuses and disconnecting safety features to save a few quid’s worth of screen wash is just plain daft.

So to many the common sense approach of leaving well alone is still very obvious :smirk:

Although i'm disappointed by the amount of liquid they use, I have to agree that the headlamp washers are there for a reason - genuine safety - and should therefore be left alone.

Hello everybody,

Here in The Netherlands there was a thread about headlight washers.

It seems that your dealer can change the interval of the yeti's washers.

Standard your washers will function every 5th time you use your windscreen washers.

The intervals of the headlight washers can be increased, in steps of 5 cycles, up to 249.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem possible to change intervals with your maxidot, your dealer uses his computer to do so.

As far as I know several people increased the intervals to 15 / 20 cycles.

Hope this info helps but be aware that here in Holland we don't have as much snow as in some parts of Britan.

You can also have the cycles changed twice a year, let's say winter / summer mode.

Great info; thanks, particularly that you can set a summer and winter mode.

My main hangup with headlamp wash is that I use the screenwash quite a lot in the summer to clear bugs etc. off the windscreen and find it a real pain that every 5th use I get the headlamp wash (as I drive with headlamps on most of the time, although this may change as Yeti will have DLRs to use instead) and get screenwash fluid all over a clean and well polished bonnet.

I can certainly see the sense in having the headlamp wash operative in the winter and don't mind filling the screenwash frequently.

Are you sure about that?

Mine seem to work every 5th blast, no matter what the lights are doing!

Its a rail safety thing - see BS469. Saves you running down the track waving signal lamps.emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Oy, watch it! That would mean me leaving my nice warm signal box!! I just put the levers back in the frame and wave a red at the window!!

And I've worked out why my washers work all the time....................................

my lights are always on!!
