Heater fan doesn't work sometimes

Featured Replies

The car is from 2000 and has Climatronic. Sometimes, when it's cold, the fan won't work. It will occasionally start working. Does the fan need replacement or something that controls it?

When it starts working, does that when when you go over a bump in the road / etc? Could well be worn bushes in the motor, or maybe the motor spindle is a bit seized up and thus the motor struggles to get it to move in the cold.

I have'nt noticed how it starts to work since it's happened just a couple of times. Where can I get brushes and what do they cost? A new fan costs from 30£ on ebay.

No idea on costs, I am afraid. tbh: I am only guessing at this point. I would think the best bet is to pop the fan blower assembly out of the car and have a look at it in the warmth of the house.

New bushes, I would like to think would only be a few pennies.... as I like saving money I would investigate first - check you have power at the fan assembly too, although I doubt the climatronic unit would have failed.

I have the same problem. The blower stops working and sometimes it just starts, can be days apart, I have changed the blower and no succes.

When i use an multimeter to check power to the fan I get 0.03V and if I mesure on the resitor cable 2 I get 0.03v and on the gren nr 1 cable I have 9v and it goes to 0v when I turn fans off on the control. If I disconect the resitor cable i loose the 0.03v on the fan.

So I wonder about pin 3 on the resistor brown wire, whats it purpose and why are there no 12v suply to the resitor.

I have checked the nr 25 fuse and its fine.
