Elegance CD player in the boot - no instructions

Featured Replies

Having seen the CD query of a day or so ago, I am reminded that the 57 plate Elegance I recently bought has a CD Changer in the boot but there are no instruction in the folder of handbooks (the radio handbook does say there should be one!). I can't see any manufacturer's badge on the Changer so I have to assume that it is a factory fitted device - unlike the one in the Octy I had, this doesn't appear to have a carrier that one could load up in-doors which was such a good feature at this time of year !!

Anyway does anyone know if the instructions are on line for loading CD's into this or can some one give me a brief summary please.

hi, I had a 57 elegance all you do if i can remember is press load and the number on the changer and it takes it in,i think its in red when they are empty

If its of any use, the standard fit cd changer in our old 95 octy worked as follows:

The changer is In the boot on the left hand side, behind a fabric covered door panel in our case. On the face of the unit facing uppermost slide open the access cover. Inside you can see an eject button, press it. A motor drives the CD cartridge out and you can then pull it clear. The rear of the cart has per CD slot sprung loaded eject arms which push the CD out of the cartridge enough for you to remove the CD. Put in your choice of CDs (there’s a big "this way up" on the cart if my memory serves), place the cartridge back into the multi changer, push down gently for the motor to grab and drive back into place, shut the top slide and off you go

I would have thought manuals will be available on line but I cant help you there I’m afraid - I sold my set with the car.

It should be in your manual, here is what it says in mine regarding the CD Multichanger located in the boot.

An online version of the manual is here which includes illustrations (page 176):

The CD changer*

The CD changer for the radio and navigation system is located in

the left side compartment of the luggage compartment.

Loading a CD

– Touch the button and guide the CD (compact disc) into the CD-case . The CD is automatically loaded onto the next

free position in the CD-changer. The LED in the corresponding button stops flashing.

Loading all CDs

– Hold the button pressed and guide all CDs one after the other into the CD-case . The LEDs in the buttons are no

longer flashing.

Loading a CD to one definite position

– Touch button . The LEDs in the buttons light up at the memory spaces, which are already assigned and flash in the

case of free memory spaces.

– Touch the desired button and guide the CD into the CD case

.

Ejecting a CD

– Touch the button , in order to eject a CD. For assigned memory spaces, now the LEDs light up in the buttons .

– Touch the corresponding button. The CD is ejected.

Ejecting all CDs

– Hold the button pressed for more than 2 seconds, in order to eject the CDs. All CDs in the CD-changer are ejected

consecutively.

Note

• Always guide the CD into the CD-case with the printed side pointing upwards.

• Never push the CD with force into the CD-case as the insertion is performed automatically.

• After loading a CD into the CD-changer, you must wait until the LED of the corresponding button lights up. Then the CD-case is free to load the next CD.

• If you have selected a position, on which a CD is already located, this CD will be ejected. Take out the ejected CD and load the desired CD.

Very Many Thanks, Silver1011 - that's one of those OOPS! moments, as I hadn't thought of looking in the Owner's Manual (actually the Radio Manual does indicate a CD Player Manual so I will claim that as an excuse!) ; in the end it would have been reasonably obvious, and trial and error would no doubt have prevailed, but not in the present cold.

Thanks for the link to the Manual too as having access to it on line does give one an electronically searchable document.

Thanks to all who helped as well.
