i have a very damp FL VRS h/b . i understand there will be slight dampness in the car due to the weather and the damp getting in and out of the car after several hours of shopping and getting in and out of the car visiting shops also dosnt help either that i havent read the handbook yet (typical bloke !!! ) so not sure what best setting is to get rid of condensation !! please advise ... but the main concern is the back window has water drops on the in side of the screen. at 1st i thought it was frozen water out side but after checking i found it to be inside .... any ideas

happy new year

Common complaint on the Octavia.

It could be one of a few well documented reasons.

The rear screen wash has a bad habit of leaking, especially when it becomes frozen and can leak anywhere along its length, but more often than not its near the brake light which then fills the spare wheel well with water which then mists up the rear screen as you describe.

Door seals/rubbers are know for holding water and there have been cases of leaky windscreens, bulk heads and damp pollen filters.

My Octavia has none of these problems and still mists up far too easily. I've just resigned myself to the fact its just a 'damp by design' car!

Take a look at this recent thread, plenty of options to try:

With yours being a FL I assume its still under warranty? Take it back to the dealer and ask them to take a look. I can think of a 1001 excuses they'll give you but you never know you might get lucky!

Join the club ! Skoda Octavia aka 'Damp cars r' us' - had all the issues that first reply lists...the garage changed that many bits in the end, I don't think they even know what the cause was (took almost 2yrs to fix!) If it wasn't such a cracking car, this one issue would have caused me to get rid of it. The water that ****es in when you lift the tailgate doesn't help (another 'feature' of the hatch).

Maybe it is just a 'damp by design' car!...I like it !

I'd love another...but this one issue would make me think twice before committing
