I have an Octavia 57 plate( old shape) (94,000 miles) and the reverse gear has started grinding intermittently. I have read some of the posts and it seems I may need to add some gearbox oil. Unfortunately I don't know where to put the oil in or even what oil to use. Can anybody at all help please.

sounds more like a bit of clutch drag--- at that milage I would change the oil any way doesn't cost much but I think you need the 12 point tool

If it is clutch drag, how long typically would the clutch last? And also what is the general cost for a new clutch, supplied and fitted?
