Sorry wrong thread!!!

Anyway i thought the vRS i tried was quiet as a mouse, at least an angry mouse...you should try a 10 year old 306 diesel

As everyone else says, its only noisy when its cold. I've gotten used to the sound, its easy enough to get used to, and the shove easily makes up for it....

What I cant understand though is why you'd want to trade your car in for an identical model... surely part of the point of a new car is to try something different? Each to their own, but I wouldnt spend thousands getting a newer identical car, but thats just me...

For me, the point of a car is transport. The point of a new car is to replace a worn car. If I am happy with a car's performance, I will get another one the same. I had 3 new Golf GTIs in a row before I got my first Fabia.

I am pleased with the Fabia I have, but I thought I would check out the VRS because it would be more fun and more economical. It was both, but it would have compromised in areas where I didn't want to compromise.

In general, I have two options in my car purchases - either regular replacement or running into the ground and starting over. My first GTI (a 1981 Mk.1 1.6 import) I sold to my father after 2 years and got a Mk.1 1.8 (another import). It was the most enjoyable car I have ever owned. I had that for about 6 years and had to change it because of some mounting costs. I got a Mk.2 which was more practical, but less fun. I more or less ran that into the ground over 12 years. I would have gone for a Mk.IV, but it didn't fit in the garage. The Fabia was just right, and the 2.0 was nearly as fast (although a bit soft). So I am getting another one. I will probably stick with it until the next model which, following most trends, will be bigger and not fit in my garage. Anyway, now I am always running under warranty. It costs, of course.

Glad you have made what you feel is the right decision. The 2.0l as you know is very quiet and is a comfortable ride compared to the more brash character of the vRS.

You've made the right decision as it's the one YOU made based on your own criteria. Doubt you'll get much trouble because of that & I'm sure you'll be happy with it.

Enjoy :D
