Engine Mounts Knackered?

I've got a 2000 plate 1.9 SDi which I've only had a couple of months. Got an annoying knocking noise when going over uneven bumps. Had a look underneath the car and all looks ok yet when I rock the car from side to side I can replicate the knocking noise. Could it be the engine mounts and is it as straight forward as looking under the bonnet to find out?
