Help me get in - Fabia Deadlocked

Featured Replies

Hey folks, I have been walking to work lately, what with the cold weather and number of small crashes due to the snow i figured i would be safer walking... so, because of this, my car has been sitting for a few weeks.

Went to try and get in today but the car is deadlocked, I have an aftermarket Hornet alarm. The key wont manually open the doors, the bonnet and boot are locked, so cannot be opened and there is no way of charging or getting in. Technically, all i need to do is put a power sourse on somewhere in order to give enough power to remove the deadlocks and unlock the door, from there i can then open the bonnet and charge from the usual battery posts. My question is, where can i put this power to? Could i put a 12V supply onto the alternator posts from under the car? Could I remove a foglight and put a 12V supply onto them?

Any Help is much help!

Thanks,

- Duggie.

IMO you're better off "pikeying" the bonnet release so you can get at "stuff" properly. How to do this, I dunno. Must be better than trying to get at battery or alternator from underneath though. Wear ear plugs if the alarm's got its own battery though!

Is there a way of opening a locked bonnet from the outside anyone?

Cheers,

- Duggie

I would hazard a guess removing the undertray and poking at the bonnet with a coat hanger in an attempt to pull the end of the mechanism with the cable to the driver's side of the car is what's needed. Never tried it though.

Putting a 12v supply to a fog light will not help unless you left them turned on. Best bet would be the alternator but that's quite high up. Or perhaps there is somewhere near the power steering.

Breaking the grille may be cheaper than breaking a window.

Connecting 12v. to the alternator does work. Just make sure nothing gets shorted.

Connect the -ve. somewhere on bare metal under the engine then the +ve. to one of the red alternator terminals, if one doesn't work then try another.

If you can find the positive side of the alternator, connect the + of your booster battery to this, and then connect the negative somewhere totally different, eg. the engine earth connection.

For simp

Make sure that everything is the right way round before connecting the second cable, and unlock as normal.

For simply unlocking the car you may get away with using a standard 9V radio battery.

Dont try and start the car with this in place, instead open the bonnet and connect another car battery as if you are going to jump start the car.

Thanks very much for the info and help guys, looks like i'll be jacking the car up in a very tight garage at some point soon! =0!

- Duggie.

You will need jumper cables and a fully charged car battery or car. Remember that the existing battery is still in the circuit, so a smaller battery will not work.

Otherwise follow mannyo's post.

An alternative would be to connect a smart battery charger to the same points.
