Rear Registration plate lights:0022914

Featured Replies

It all started out pretty simple, one of my bulbs above the rear registration plate had blown, a trip to Halfords for some bulbs and then simply whisk off the light cover right? Wrong, the philips head screws were the worst rust infested mess I have ever seen some ten cars later, I tuned one head and it actually crumbled into black powder! The next, same! So I started prizing a little and snap! I smashed the corner off, so rather than squandering unnecessary money, I tried to put some silicone sealant around the light which all seemed to be fine, except when the lights are on its heating up and leaving a smoke mark above the light. I need new rear covers Part No: 0022914. Now, unlike putting in VW 1JO parts numbers and yielding loads of results, this part No is getting me nowhere!

If you can help me to locate something along these lines that would be great thanks.

Happy New Year all.

Yes it is- any help much appreciated, thanks.

I also have a blown bulb and like you my screws have turned into a mushy mess...trouble is there is enough solid metal left to keep the screw just in place so I'm at a loss as to how to get the screws out!

I am resorting to leaving it until the car goes in to have it's drivers side window mechanism fixed...

Mine did this the other day. Noth screws a mess. Managed to get one out, but the other is had it. Bit of pulling on the lens cracked the plastic, so managed to get the bulb changed. From now on i shall open the boot, remove the trim panel and do it that way from inside.

did the same on mine at the weekend, drilled the heads off then tried to make new holes in the lens to screw them in with new screws (the shaft of the old ones wouldn't budge) caught the lens with the drill bit and snapped the corner off :(

Anyone know the part no for the hatchback lenses?

are they not the same as the hatch and the bulbs come out from the inside?

Might be a good idea to get some stainless screws from somewhere like screwfix, should only be cheap.

part number is 1H5 943 119 £3.62 each plus vat and the screws N01396111 £0.13 each they are the same for the estate and saloon

I had the issue with the screw heads disolving - took it in for MOT and the mechanic laughed and said it was no problem, happened all the time, and it was easy to go in through the inside anyway.

i changed mine from the inside its much easier

Excellent, yes definitely work from the inside out is my advice so much easier- a definite case of thinking 'outside the box' as it were. Much appreciated, I've a feeling that's the same part No as a MKV Golf, but I'll check. Cheers
