Shark remap

Featured Replies

Just a wee comment regarding Shark Performance.

Called Ben on Wednesday to investigate the remapping of my Petrol vRS, did the deal and had the STS system in my hands by Thursday evening Within 5hrs on Friday had the full performance remap installed and was test driving before the Hogmanay celebrations.....

What a way to start 2011, the performance is trully astonishing and will require serious right foot control..I have not stopped smiling since and cannot thank Ben enough for outstanding service and turn around during the holiday period..

Fella, its a gloss black wrap, carried out ba a specialist in Cumbernauld, did it after work one evening in 45mins, really good job which can be polished similarly to paint and looks just like a paint finish, the bonus is you can easily remove if required. Sorry no pics yet will do when weather improves....but totally recommend roof and remap for that matter....

thanks for that

would appreciate the pics when practical

they would help me make my decision

how much for the remap ??

Is yours an FL? Any concerns regarding the DSG and the extra load?

Shark remap was Christmas discounted and with inclusion of STS module total was under £480 delivered.....Best bang for buck I can think of...

Discussed the DSG and all good, basically the DSG can handle the torque from the diesel vRS, therefore the increase load from petrol remap is still within the parameters..

Shark is based in Mansfield.

As far as I am aware the STS (Self Tuning System) is not available for the CR170 because of the anti tune protection on the ECU. If you want it done then you will have to take the car directly to them

As far as results go I have had their remap on my petrol VRS for 20,000 miles and the results are like night and day. One guy with the same car as me and a Shark map had his dyno'd and put out 262 bhp and over 280 lbs/ft of tourqe. Not sure about the diesel though, I would imagine you would see 200 bhp no problem!

Drop Ben a PM on here (Shark_90) and he will answer all your questions.

Hope this helps!

The Diesel has a 6 speed DSG due to high torque

The Petrol has a 7 speed DSG as less torque is produced

All done by email and phone. Ben gave great service, not sure re TDi although sure it is available, but the real bonus for me was the Self Tuning System, basically you download existing map, email to Ben who then modifies it and emails back within a day (4hrs for me!) you then upload overwriting the existing map. The additional benefit is that the STS system provides you with the original map, performance map and an immobiliser map, all of which can be used throughout the life of the car...all for under £480.....

Sorry fella the vRS Petrol DSG is wet clutch 6 speed, the 1.8 Tsi DSG is dry clutch 7 speed....

+1 You took the words right out of my mouth!

dont get taken into rumours off these forums. on mk5golfgti.co.uk there are absolutely loads of guys running well in excess of 300Hp/360lbft on the DSG gearboxes, with quite a few running big turbo conversions and>400Hp/360lbft+

Agreed, although people need to be aware of the difference between the 6 speed DSG with the 'wet clutch'as fitted in the vRS, GTi, ED30 etc and the 7 speed DSG with the 'dry clutch' fitted in the 1.8 TSi, the power you mentioned running through the 7 speed would destroy it!! :o
