Hi everyone. I've been lurking here for a few months and found everything I needed to choose my '99 Golf replacement.

Junior arrived in August and the mountain of baby kit/prams etc called for something with a lot more boot space, so the initial reaction was to buy a 2000 Scenic - big mistake! Terrible backache and a huge sense of disappointment and plasticytrim-o-phobia later, I had to get something with the quality feel I had with the Golf. Enter the Octavia estate - the perfect combination of boot space, drive-ability (the Mrs doesn't notice the difference in size, well, except when parking), economy and performance from the 110 diesel (nicer handling and almost double the range of the 1.6 Golf).
