Gearbox drain plug location

Its on the bottom of the 'box,right hand side as you look under,and its a big tamper proof torx one.Don't think you need a seal.

Draper do a tool for it,I have one,its a HDPK1 if your interested.

Note for the 4x4 you also have the transfer box.

To get the correct level the box needs to be filled, run up and then rechecked and topped up as it fills through the main box.

Ta very much Techie. Based on what you've said, I think i'll take it to someone familiar with that car, rather than my usual mechanic.

Skoda quoted me £160 for a gearbox oil change, which is rather a lot as i was only doing it in the tenuous hope of improving a sometimes

difficult change into and out of 1st and reverse.

My reliable small garage may not have the appropriate tool anyway
