dump valve on vrs ?

Featured Replies

At which point did i say it was like a DV? :wonder:

I meant that you can get a nice sound from a decent exhaust system. Nothing like a DV, but can still hear the turbo flutter which is the sound i like

I believe VRS TURBO had a video on his thread of his exhaust.

I must admit , the 1.8T with an induction kit sounds awesome with an induction kit on it with an exhaust

But not the vRS Fabia

The DV on them sounds nothing like a DV on a Fabia

TBH

THE best noise you can add to a vRS donkey diseasal is a Hybrid Turbo

THE END!!!!!!

Does a hybrid change the noise then??

I was contenplating the hybrid set up (if it turns out my turbo seals have gone it gives me the excuse to)

Was debating a pd150 non hybrid over a 130 hybrid.

But if it makes a nice noise?

the hybrid sounds phenomenal.

when i had my first vrs... my friend had a hybrid vrs and i tried to mimick everything he had on his to get mine to sound the same... but failed... running the same bmc cda and exhausts mine's was nowhere near the noise of his

the Hybrid Pd150 just roars... its like its alive... pretty awesome tbh :D

i cannot comment on any other hybrids but the pd150 hybrid from Turbo Dynamics roars

:giggle:

The end

No way!!!!!!!

The sound that you get from a DV on the diesel is superb!!!!!

Not forgetting where I used to work and the amount of cars I have seen

I have also been out in a diesel that had shed loads of extra power than you could dream of

but no , it did not even sound anywhere near the same as a fabia vRS with a Dv on

Sorry

the end has just opened again :wonder:

Plus ,who wants to spen THAT amount of money on a hybrid to get the sound

It was that expensive , I did not get one

The word 'Roar' gets me exited haha :)

If i dont need a new engine haha... i think pd150 hybrid will be first on the list :D

Any videos you have of yours or anyone elses?

If you get the PD 150 turbo , you will need the injectors to go with it too

Then a complete remap

It is expensive

Give good power though

Same gearbox as what is in the Gokf PD150 ARL engine code

But hey , alot of money

this was mine before i owned it

doesn't really sound that good in the video's but trust me....

the first vid at the end at low speed is a good idea at 55 seconds

pd130 and pd150 injectors are the same....

standard injectors will suffice up untill 220bhp

:D

Rubbish !

Not required in the slightest !

Any videos with a pd130 etc with a DV?

Not a eletric one though... Tissme seems to be hyping them up.

Did you just guess that? You don't need new injectors unless you want to go past 230bhp realistically. Considering most PD150 hybrids see 200-230bhp they will be absolutely fine!

What it might need though is an uprated clutch...

Hi

I have to say that there are LOADS of people on here that will say no

Also laods of garages including where I worked that will say no

To tell you the truth I had one for my car

Why????

Because it sounded absolutely fantastic

I did not want for for BHP gains , or because you got any other benifit that it sounded FANTASTIC

So come on guys come on and flame me , just like what I have had the other dozens of times I have answered diesel dump valves

I have heard them and loved them

It will give if anything the slightest increae of BHP gains , that is because it slightly overfuells , so yes

But wether it will damage anything

If done correctly No it wont

Is it worth it , if you want the dump valve sound , YES without a doubt YES

If you want one , do it and dont listen to people that will talk you out of it

Forge did a stunning one , and that was the one I had , but they stopped doing them

But 100% a definate from me

The good thing about the Forge one was that you could add a switch in it too , so if you was taking granny to the train station you could be quiet LOL

Oh I wish I had put mine on :(

Sarah

Don't know if this is the same one, if you scroll down to the fabia part there is a forge d.v

Yes , that is the one

But as I said they dont do them anymore

May get the odd one on Ebay though

As for the Injctors , I have not checked , but will stand corrected if so

But I dont like the big turbo`s on them to be honest

But the dump valve on these are stunning!!!!!!!!!

Until you hear a good one like the Forge one , you have heard nothing like it

Sarah

Main problem with a DV on these engines is how the MAF sensor is placed. When the DV releases the pressure its is mostly after the MAF sensor has made its calculations. Therefore you end up with a very rich mixture if you accelerate again and until the turbo spools and builds the pressure back up, as the air the MAF sensor thinks is there is has been released out of the valve. (this is a very crude explanation, but its the basic principle)

In reality you could probably get the dump valve fluttering sound by fitting one, but its not going to do anything performance wise, it may actually suffer from it.

Keep with a DV.

I can tell you why you shouldn't fit a dump valve.

As you may or may not know already, a diverter valve (DV) dumps boost pressure from the turbo back into the intake system to be recirculated. A dump valve straight to atmosphere.

The problem lies with the engine management system. Essentially, the engine management system accounts for all the air entering into the system using the MAF. When some of this air goes missing, i.e. dump valve. The ECU has a hissy fit as less air is getting into the engine than has been accounted for. This results in reduced boost pressure, fuel ratio, etc.... and boost = power! That's the simple answer. :-)

Both sound advice for a petrol. However somewhat redundant advice for a diesel.

Diesels dont have DV's, be it recirculating or otherwise. There is no throttle valve so nothing for the boost to be hitting when off the throttle and that could slow the turbo down. There is also no inlet manifold vacuum to operate one hence the price of the Forge one as it required a solenoid triggered by the throttle pedal to fake a dump valve operation just to make the noise.

just get a straight through exhaust,
