Another one bites the dust (not me)

Glad your ok. As others have said, cars can be replaced but you wouldnt be. Im only young myself but always drive sensibly. Hopefully some other young vRS drivers/ any young driver will see this and think twice especially in the bad weather we have had recently.

Stupid bunny glad all ok tho wonder if she has the blueflame for sale lol am after 1 just like tht

Perhaps sounding a little harsh, but daft driver for not just squashing the bunny.

At least she does say she should have killed it and lets face it rabbit/squirrel or you.. the animal gets it.

Oh, just realised that vRS_Rach is the latest member of the IBMA! (Inverted Briskoda Members Association)

There is only one cost of membership and it has already been well & truly paid.

You might find the roof not as bad as you thought - Mine landed on its roof on the first turn and A pillar damage/roof crushing was very minimal indeed. One reason I was able to walk out totally unhurt (bar some minor whiplash which sank in during next day or so)

and also sounding a bit harsh but im getting a tad frustrated with being called silly/daft/stupid or whatever. something comes out in front of me and my instinct is to avoid it....maybe im too caring or whatever

I'm with you on that one. Stuff has jumped out at me before (never an animal, always rubbish or something), and I usually start to swerve or brake. I find it more a case of reflexes rather than a conscious decision.

If it's far enough in the distance then it's a different story, but close up. . .

Good you're ok though.

car is being recovered tomorrow so will see the state of the roof then. and then its ahead with all the fun and games with insurance...

If they mess you around ill buy it as you know

First reaction: lucky girl. And as you're (nearly) O.K...

Second reaction: who's going to be breaking the car?

im not sure, will be sure to let u know whats going on when i know more :)

When insurance pay out i would think Copart will end up with it and will auction it off on there site...Due to the damage it will be sold as a CAT B breaker only so any breakers yard could end up buying it

I must be harsh then, I never react to avoid small animals unless I'm only going slow, have finally drummed it into my girlfriend too, these pictures show why

Matt

Glad you're OK.

Just a though; how many of the 'swervers' as opposed to 'straight brakers' were (not) ex bikers. Once you've come off a bike a few times you tend to hold everything in line and go easy on the brakes. This rather wastes the advantages of ABS - but that disappears once you clip the kerb and the wheels lift off.

well im off to hand over the keys and it is indeed off to copart. insurance have been doing quite well so far i must admit. things are gonna get emotional now tho me thinks :(

I have the same reaction whenever I see something in the road, my first instinct is to avoid, probably from cycling when hitting anything means a crash. At 50mph unless you have a fair amount of warning your first instinct will determine what happens, not the rational part of your brain which would say keep going. I remember my friend swerving to avoid a goat years ago... then a rabbit ran out from the other side of the road straight under his wheels as we passed the goat. Glad to see you're alive anyway Rach, hope you manage to get everything sorted.

I have to agree about first instincts with something jumping out in front of you as you never know what it might be, animal, rubbish or child!!

I had a moment driving back to the West Mids from Surrey late one Friday evening as i was heading down an unlit dual carriageway at about 60 going round a bend and suddenly a fox appeared. First instinct was to avoid it, which i did but thankfully the car remained rooted to the road. Only thing that happened was my now ex-girlfriend (becoming an ex isn't anything to do with this!! lol), who was asleep in the passenger seat, hit her head against the side window.

Could have been worse, just glad it wasn't. :)

It's remarkable how modern cars behave in an accident. Your Fabia did a grand job of protecting you :) even if it does look quite bad. I experienced something similar a couple of years ago, in a Fiesta:

The car came to rest on its roof, with a peat bank stopping me from getting out the driver's side. If it was in an older generation of car, I have no doubt that the roof and pillars would have been much more severely damaged, and I probably wouldn't have been able to get out of it by myself (if at all).

On a side note Rachel, what wheels were they? I'm thinking I'd like to get a set of multi spokes on my car thoughh in white, were they Prorace 1.2s?

Multi spoke wheels are hateful, i have silver multi spoke on my vrs and they are a major pain to keep clean, white multi spoke wheels would have me reaching for a rope!
