Exhausts

Featured Replies

Looking at changing a few parts on my octy and was wondering if anyone is running a centre section 'race tube' (Link To One Here) , and if there is must of a difference in noise ?

Also does anyone have any experience with the Jetex or Piper cat back systems ?

Cheers

That tube is just a mild steel centre section with no centre box

Yes but i was wondering if there would be any difference in noise on an octy , dont want the sound to be ott and dont want to spend £300+ for a milltek system , or will a golf , leon or a3 system fit with it being the same floorpan

The front pipes are the same and i would imagine the centre sections probably are aswell, the backbox will be different due to extra length of saloon

To be honest you are better off spending your money on a proper performance system(cat back) than just getting a centre section that is not going to give any more performance and maybe a slight increase in noise. The restrictive part of the exhaust is the down pipe and cat so those should be the ones to replace. Failing that a good cat back system and matched rear box. Something like Piper,Miltek , Blueflame are all good systems(although Blueflame went bankrupt last year)

Jetex are also good as some memebrs have that fitted.

Also not sure why you would want to fit a A3 , Seat system as they are very similar to the Octy and thus will give you no performance or sound benefit what so ever , unless your system is knackered and you are trying to get a cheap A3, Seat one. You will have to make the rear box mounts up as those are the same as the golf, which is smaller than the Octy back end. Although Octy has a Golf floorpan it is stretched at the rear.

Unfortunatley performance exhaust all cost around the £300 mark

Its purely for sound only , if i wanted performance then i would probably spend the extra £££ , i have emailed the seller of the one i linked and they say it should provide a deeper, 'hollower' note. When i was saying about the a3 , leon and golf i meant aftermarket as these seem to pop up more but i understand they will be short at the rear

Instead of starting a new thread , does anyone know if the estate and hatchback exhausts are the same , cheers

I have a Jetex sports cat and full system, and doesn't sound any different to the stock system.

Estate and hatch are the same length so I guess the exhausts would be the same.

I used to have a Jetex cat back system on my old s40 turbo and that was quiet aswell but i liked it, suttle rather than in your face drain pipe, it fitted nice aswell as it was a tight fit on s40,

Only thing i wasnt impressed with was how it rusted for a stainless system
