Hi guys,

Was/am on my way to work, when I pulled out to overtake changing down gear my car kind of lurched and black smoke started pluming out the back of the car, so I pulled over asap checked the engine which on tick over is fine but when driven lots of smoke out of the back and it lurches like the turbo is kicking in and out! Is it a safe bet that this could be the boost pipe has popped off?

Awaiting the AA now as I have no tools and in my suit on the side of ballon hill in Gloucester!

Whats it sound like when coming onto 'boost'

Is there any difference? Should be able to hear it if the boost pipe is off.

Yeah sorry forgot that bit, it when reved almost sounds like a blowing exaust? When it happened there was not really a noticeable noice!

Does sound like a loose or popped off boost pipe. Have you had a decent look yourself?

Anywhoo. The AA man should be able to sort it out ASAP. Hopefully it just needs re-conecting or a new clip.

They tend to pop off when the locating lugs and clips wear, I would be looking at a new clip as a minimum (few pence each) or possibly a hose as well if the lugs are worn, otherwise it will just keep popping off.
