Unable to enter menu of Maxidot display (fixed)

Featured Replies

First things first:

I have a 2006 Skoda Octavia Ambiente 1.9 TDI, where I replaced the intrument panel with a maxidot version. The Maxidot display was used, but looked good. I've also fitted an RNS 510 and a multifunction steering wheel.

The problem I have is that I cannot reach the menu that allows you to change settings and switch to the various screens. The RNS 510 does display the compass arrow, and also the navigation arrows when I start a new route.

When I see the navigation screen, I can switch back to the fuel usage display (MFA) by holding the stalk down button for about a second. After that I cannot go back to the navigation display.

Does anyone have an idea how to fix this, or what the cause of this might be? Any help is much appreciated.

I assume you have checked all the codes using a product like VCDS and that they have all been input/changed to account for the new modules? If not, there are loads of useful "how to do it's" on here: Click Here

Have you checked the owner's manual, to make sure you're selecting correctly? Sorry if you have, but it's worth checking!

Details about Maxidot are explained beginning on P18.

Yes, all the modules have been coded. I'm just unsure whether the steering wheel coding is correct; I coded it with the coding help from VCDS. Basically I am unsure what bit to set to enable the MFA menu with the wiper stalk. I'm pretty sure the necessary bit wasn't coded before, since I didn't have maxidot installed. Anyone know what to enable for this?

Thanks,

Bas

Yes, checked that as well. :)

I got it all working now. I can now enter the menu, and switch to MFA, Radio, Navigation and Settings.

The problem was probably caused by moving the adaptation values from the old (Mini Dot) display to the new Maxi Dot display. A reset of the display to factory settings (in VCDS: 17 - Instrument - 10 Adaptation - Channel 0 - Value 000), followed by waiting for the display to turn off got me back into the menu.

So, for anyone retrofitting a (used) Maxi Dot display, make sure you reset the display to factory settings after fitting.
