I've found the rattle!

Featured Replies

Had an awful rattle coming from the front of my vrs lately at around 1200 revs as I accelerated and slowed down.Peering under the bonnet I noticed the black plastic rectangular badge in the middle of the engine cover had sprung up in the middle. It wouldn't stay snapped in so a big dollop of evostick did the trick. Relative peace restored.

It's great when it is a simple as that!!! :D

I remember a friend of mine had a Rover 100 (Metro) which had developed an annoying 'clunk'. After much searching and listening and road testing  it turned out that the jack under the spare tyre in the boot was loose. A simple tighten of the washer/bolt thing and peace was restored!!!

You'll have to find other excuses to go out for a 'drive' now!!!

Well done, it's great to solve something like that.

This also reminds me of this 'urban legend':

A car mechanic received a repair order that read: "Check for clunking sound when going around corners."

Taking the car out for a test drive, he made a right turn, and a moment later he heard a 'clunk.' He then made a left turn and again heard a 'clunk.'

Back at the shop he opened the car's trunk, and soon discovered the problem. Promptly he returned the repair order to the service manager with the notation, "Removed bowling ball from trunk".

:)
