Simple Easy Cheap

"Simple Easy Cheap"

I am looking to make a modification to my car which is all of the 3 words listed above, I drive a 1.4 Classic and planning on having the car until it dies so willing to make it abit more nicer on the eyes.

So if you have any ideas what could be done, This is my first car so very limited experience when it comes to parts and fitting please bare that in mind

Good idea...What about a full valet? :)

Depends what you are looking for to be honest.

Things like replacing the OEM badges front/rear/steering wheel can make it look different / unique. There always tends to be GB (group buy) running on here every so often and can get 3 custom made for about £20 good quality as well

De-badging the boot can make a difference. Hair - dryer or something similar to warm the glue. Dunno about the classic but the main skoda badge on a vrs has a hole for locating so I wouldn't take that off if you've got nothing to fill/replace it. The "classic" and if it has "1.4" lettering should come off. (Just a suggestion and don't melt the paint as well as the glue!)

Might be worth getting a sun strip as well to fit if that's your thing? would have to look about though as I don't know what's available.

If you fancy spending a bit more then you can look at window tinting and/or alloys. Perhaps lowering it as well? I don't know there's so much you can do.

On a side note it may be worth looking at upgrading your ICE (In car entertainment) as although some bits may cost a bit its fairly straightforward to fit (sub / amp / speakers / head unit) and can always be used in your next car and the standard stuff put back in you fab.

You could also get an induction / air filter kit and it will make it sound more gutsy!

Just some food for thought, however the best thing you could do is spend a little time looking at other peoples fabs on here and work out what mods work for you.

Or some new headlight bulbs from powerbulbs

bulbs nice and easy give it a good look at night esp number plate bulbs, tinting windows looks good but tbh i wouldnt do alot

If your number plates look old, tired, or have yellow marks from rusting screws, it's always good to get a brand spanking new set of plates (can be gotten cheap off ebay delivered with no documentation, the plate itself will be fully legal and keep the plod and MOT man happy). I like to fit plates with plate surrounds such as http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200541942461&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT makes it look tidier to my eyes and saves needing to drill the new plates.

Or what about a sunglasses holder to replace the driver's grab handle? You simply unscrew the two screws holding the grab handle and screw this in. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Bora-Jetta-Golf-Mk4-Sunglass-Holder-Gray-/260717130576?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cb3f3b350

Go faster stripe/s (insulation tape) full length, up over bonnet - roof - tailgate.

Don't forget you will need to notify you insurer about any modifications you do, unless your policy gives a list of things they don't need to know about.

If the car's a keeper, a new coolant temp sensor, Jorily aftermarket thermostat, and possibly MAP sensor may be required to get the best fuel economy in the long run. You might also need an evaporator temp sensor if the car has air con, a new rheostat for the fan, and possibly a new radiator sooner or later. Not that I'm trying to put you off - everything (except the radiator, perhaps) is any easy DIY fix, and not too expensive. Just that it would be a shame to spend loads making the car look nice, only for it to break down...

I'm assuming you have steal wheels?

Loose the trims and paint them.. oh, I dunno.. Beige? Orange.. White? Mint green?.. and then save up for some lowering springs + fitting + alignment.

Or get some 16" steelies from a bora/beetle/4 written off vRS's

Keep the rest tidy, and it'll slide along quite sweetly.

little bit of colour coding or a cheap set of alloys maybe? oh and a good old polish emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I'll be on the look-out 'Kris M' for that Fabia Comfort when in Morrisons car-park, snapping-up my idea. LOLemoticon-0140-rofl.gif
