Traction control/ABS unit

Featured Replies

Car gone into Sparshatts, Fareham today for replacement ABS unit as diagnosed faulty last week. Think the fault code was 201, which after 'google-ing' I see its a common problem on cars 3-5 years old.

Being as mine has less than 19k on the clock was a bit surprised, but hey-ho.

Are there any other 'common' failures that everyone knows about apart from me??!!!

Cheers

I hope you are not paying for this out of your own pocket. Is it warranty or 'goodwill'?

As said elsewhere, goodwill is available if your car has a full dealer service history. Each case is delt with individually by Skoda but relys on your dealer carrying out a full diagnosis and uploading the report via DISS to them.

Hi there, and thank you for both reading ang replying to my post.

Car back from garage on the same day, cured of it's little gremlin.

I only bought the car in September and took out the 3 year warranty, so didn't need to fork out anything. Apparantly it would have cost £985!! had I not have had the warranty.

Just be aware that they have replaced the faulty unit with the same 'inherently' faulty unit so you will be looking at the same problem in 2-5 years time. There is a 'repair' kit that costs £127 but it is not available to us UK punters yet, not until they have rid of all the full units they have stockpiled.
