vRS VAT FREE

Featured Replies

Hi boys n girls,

Just had a phone call from the local dealer (Ingrams Ayr) saying they now have a Green vRS with black roof and black alloys in the showroom.

I have resistied temptation/debt really well up until now, however selling this car VAT free makes it one hell of a machine for the money. Before I thought the pricing of the car was a little high, now its a different story. Having driven one on an extenstive test drive a few months back I cant imagine any car out there offering similar performance/spec for similar money.

Still unsure on the colour, although Green/Black may prove hard to walk away from.

Go for it (finances allowing...)

I had the same dilemma on the colour but eventually ended up going for white with black roof and black alloys.

Either / or look fantastic in my opinion but I was swayed towards the white as I didn't like the green as much seeing it in the flesh.

Go for it (finances allowing...) - Agree with that!

If you get the green everyone will say "Ah look, there's that cool car of that amazing advert"!!

Summary - BUY BUY BUY!

Don't get too excited folks.

When I was at my dealer yesterday the Fabia VRS Hatch was at £19,000.

Before Christmas it was at £16,000, so I was not sad to have missed the VAT free deal in October.

Eh? There's been a big mistake somewhere there mate. With the current VAT offer you couldn't get the hatch to cost £19k even if you added just about every option in the book to it!

I think you'll find that the hatch costs in the region of £13.5k basic with the current VAT offer which, by the way, is on NOW.

Pop on down to City Skoda Basingstoke and have a look.

They say Skoda has just put up their prices.

Hope you don't live in Kilwinning if you go for green  .

You're right Tony, Skoda have put their prices up... by about £300 not £3000!!

List price according to Skoda's own brochure for the hatch, including OTR charges but not VAT is a smidge over £13.5k. Even if you did include the VAT then it still only stands at £16.2k.

If the Fabia vRS of any description was £19k then that would make it more expensive than either the VW Polo GTi or the Seat Ibiza Cupra.

Trust me on this one, the Fabia vRS isn't £19k! Ask for the latest brochure which is dated 4th January 2011 - the prices are there for all to see.

Doesn't bode well for their knowledge of their own products, never mind what current offers are on that may affect them?

Glad to be of help

I think you will find the name of the car you were looking at is spelled P.. O.. L.. O.. G.. T.. I..

I would never accuse my dealer of knowing anything about their products.
