Can the ASV engine (TDI 110) be remapped?

Featured Replies

....or does it need to be re-chipped?

I've been looking at getting a bit more power from my Octy and there seems to be a difference of opinion. One place local to me initially said that the ECU would need to be chipped and then when I told him which engine code and year the car was he said it could be re-mapped via the OBD port.

I spoke to a different tuner today and he said he's never seen a TDI 110 that could be remapped and always has to replace the chips.

Has anyone had this done, and if so which method did the tuner use on your car?

Will depend on what tuner and what equipment they have. pretty sure Revo use the port.

Yeah it can be done, they falsh the ECU with new software, you can go for either a custom map which will be rolling roded to your car, as much as you engine will produce, or a generic map which is a pre ddeturmined set of valuse for any, should make aboput 140-45 if i remember rightly, i had my 130pd done and the 110 tdi i had and its well worth it

It depends on which ECU it uses. I'm at home now so I don't have any reference here, but I have a gut feeling that all ASV engined cars are EDC15 and should be reflashable. How old is it?

Older MSA15 ECUs need to be rechipped.

It's a 53 plate, possibly a 2004 MY.

Any info. gratefully received.

Thanks,

My friend had a chip on his VW camper. When he parted with the camper, he got the chip removed by the same specialist that supplied and fitted it. They told him it was suitable for my 110ASV octy so I fitted it myself. I paid £100 off my mate and it took 15 mins to fit. As the car was pretty responsive before, I didn't notice a great difference until I pulled my caravan and then it was noticeable with the extra torque. However, when I had the clutch replaced (didn't have time to do it myself because of night shifts and needing the car on the road urgently), the mechanic told me that my octy was the fastest he had driven!!!!

In that case, yes it can definitely be reflashed

I had mine done when I had it, via the now defunct AMD at Biscester.

It was a bit odd to do and they ended up removing the ECU and flashing it directly, went up to 146bhp.

Hi, The car can definately be re-mapped via the OBD port
