New Netbook

Hehe. Yeh definately!

I can certainly recomment it. It's a great litle machine. Intsalled The Sims 3 on it and it plays pretty well even on battery.

I have used the HDMI many times now when showing pictures round at peoples house on their TV's.

Just had a quick look on saveonlaptops.co.uk and seems they're not stocking them anymore. Don't know if you could get them anywhere else for the same kind of money as I paid.

Had no probs with mine so far :)

Knowing the market, it's probably been discontinued for a newer model!

Yep! That'll have been why they were selling them off cheap. Ah well. Feel I got a good deal anyway and is perfect for what I want it for.

Phil

Yep, absolutely. Especially as often the more established 'run-out' model is better than what they'll have replaced it with :)

Looks to have been superseded by the S205: http://goo.gl/koNQv

£300 seems to be the going rate.

Very interested in a netbook and after seeing this post done a little searching, i can pick up a S12 (one origionally posted) for about £230 at the mo, but my question is for all the techy people out there, what is the best netbook available for as close to £200 as poss? Going to be used for surfing the net, downloading some music and syching my iphone.

Your help and info is much appreciated B)

Where have you seen it for £230? Out of interest....

As this thread shows, I think this is as good as you'll get for the circa £200 budget. Especially if the larger screen size is important to you (11.6"). Some other reasonable examples are available for the budget, but tend to be 10". Which in my view is a bit too small for anything but brief web sessions.

just went to double check and despite showing in stock, when you click on the "add item to basket" it appears as out of stock. It also seems to be out of stock everywhere even at the higher prices :(

Oh well - any alternatives?

Jnr

Yes, thought as much :)

Seems the S12 stock has now completely dried up...

Will have a scan round at other suitable models. Is a smaller screen size than the S12 an issue for you?

dont think it will be a massive issue, although i did like the sound of it. TBH, the mrs has a sony viao if i need a bigger screen for anything imprtant, this is just for my everyday perusal and taking to work to keep me occupied at lunch times by stealing free WIFI like a pikey :D

ladies and gents... your thought please.

couple of things to point out too, im not fussed about HD outputs, i will be using it for faily laid back stuff such as web browsing, downloading some music and films and listening/watching back, keeping track of finances etc and backing up my iphone.

As said above I find the 10's too small, mine seems to be going ok, had no complaints from the mrs, I did try the card reader whilst away and it didn't seem to want to work, driver issue it seems but I had no net connection so need to look at that at some point

That seems about right for the price. Unfortunately it seems all stock of the S12 has gone now. It was the best spec for the price when available and the bigger screen (12.1") was the main reason I chose it over others.

If you compare the one you linked to the S12 it really is no competetion and the S12 (when it was £200 also) gave much bigger bang for the buck. But now you're looking at £200 for something like you linked to.

If it's just web browsing and pretty light tasks then something along those lines should be fine for you.
