Featured Replies

I Have a Fabia 1.9 TDI, 2006 '56' Plate, i have 22 Years NCB, the car is garaged, im 39 Year old (old bugger than)

Last Year paid £263 Fully Comp, Protected NCB, with Legal cover. £350 Excess. Mileage 8000 a Year

:|

My Insurance is due at the end of the Month, so been getting renewal quotes. No Details have changed, only the car is now a year older, the same as me B)

Cheapest so far over this Year, tried 8 Companys and Comparison websites, same cover £398 :doh:

Thats the cheapest.

Most expensive was £543.12

It's a bloody oil burning Skoda Fabia not a souped up Scooby! :dull:

Anyones else Insurance gone Sky High for no reason?

That is a huge difference. My other half works in car insurance and said it all comes down to the amount of fraudulent claims some people make....pushing premiums up. Its so unfair that as usual its law abiding people that end up footing the bill.

Please see my post here!

I have a double-whammie of two car insurance policies due in one month (December)

My Fabia premium went up from about £222 to £276 this year with Flux Direct - but that does include me swapping my 2004vRS for a 2007vRS SE. Cheapest quote at gocompare.com was well over £300 and Churchill only came up with £285 so I let it auto renew.

I did try a quote with NFU thinking I might go with their multicar policy but for the Fabia alone it was about £475 - I told them to forget it!

The Atom premium, with Adrian Flux went up from £285 to £307 - I just let that auto-renew - couldn't be bothered checking out the limited possibilities elsewhere...

The motorbike's only peanuts - I think it was about £74 fully comp at Swinton

I always find 'beatthatquote.com' are the cheapest by a mile

Mine went up 5% to £327, which I didn't think was too bad (couldn't get anything cheaper).

Toying with the idea of getting a MKV Golf GTi in the summer, but the insurance cost is putting me off (think I'd be lucky to get a price under £500).

This was on watchdog a few months back its happening all over the country.

one of the girls at work had theirs go up by £300 just because of were they live.

at the end of the day we live in ripoff Britten were we pay more for everything i remember when i started driving 5 years ago i was paying 80p a ltr for fuel not it's £1.26 last time i checked :'(

All of your insurance quotes i would be over the moon with, I paid £1395, with a £500 voluntary excess and a £350 complusary excess with 2 years ncb and no penalty points......Quit your crying! :rofl:

Definitely use online insurance companies.

Must say my renewal quote dropped through my letter-box rose from £275 to £470 from 'Fortis' (online)

You will laugh when I went online and got insured by 'FORTIS' through 'ONE CALL' for £265 with all the same trimmings.

How on earth can that be justified??

Sorry but if my insurance was over a grand then I simply would not own a car. Sure some people actually need a car but for most of us its just for fun or convenience.

Thanks for all your replys folks, at least i know im not the only one :dull:

Because i live in Essex, but come under a Greater London postcode (RM), i guess thats why the needless quote prices have gone up.

All my quotes have been done online:-

Swinton = £460.39

Churchill = £451.56

Direct Line = £398 (cheapest quote This Year so far)

More Than = £424.59

Admiral = £499.68

Co-Op = £543.12

Axa = £451.36

Rac = £440.14

I know these seem cheap to what others have to pay, as whats been said above but still expensive since nothings changed from last Year.

I will try RSsimon suggestion, beatthatquote.com, I will let you know how i get on :o

As we're talking about remembering...

I remember when I started driving 50+ years ago, I could buy 3 GALLONS of petrol for 10 bob. (that's 3.7 pence a litre).... And woodbines were a farthing for 20....

I made the last bit up, (but not the first bit). One year's wages would have just about have covered the insurance premiums being talked about here....

Just been on beatthatquote.com :-

Cheapest to dearest (54 quotes in total)

Axa = £466.59

Asda £590.65

Lancaster £694.93 (£750 excess!!!!!!)

I'll Keep looking me thinks :S

Give Aviva a go. They have come out cheapest for SWMBOs 1.4 TDI Furby at £230 with protected NCB, courtesy car, legal cover and £250 xs.

Renewal from Chris Knot this year was around £287 up from just over £200 (I think) last year. Haven't been back to them yet to see if they can offer a better premium.

My renewal is due at the end of February, I'm dreading it too.

Last year it was £500 which I consider to be ridiculous, more so seeing as I pay £500 for my Golf R32 which has twice the power and would easily cause much more damage!

I think insurance companies just make it up as they go along

Some naughty man who was a friend lived and worked in London area, but his parents lived here in Cornwall.

As the insurance is much cheaper (in general) than London, he put his home address and place of residence (for log-book) at his parents.

Literally saved him hundreds of pounds.

Do you know any good friends in a low insurance area. (Don't be naughty now will you.) LOLemoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Have you tried LV..? They were the cheapest for me, and are generally reasonable for younger/less experienced drivers.

Mmmm. Soup :giggle:

On a serious note. Im paying about £1600 this year for my vrs. Am 19 though mind with 0NCB. Is due up in march and renewal of £800 odd.

Am pretty impressed i must say!

I paid 330 quid last year!!

Just went on beatthatquote just now and they're cheapest was 1027.00 pound!!!!! I checked my details again to see if I done something wrong but I didn't!!

They are taking the ****....

I'm 29, 7 years no claims bonus.

How can it possibly be that much?

People keep crashing them...

good answer :rofl:

Just got another quote from Aviva for 533.99 quid.

That's better!! Still rubish though!

Edited by Fabla

I allways find that compare the market etc are rubbish.

Always seem to get better prices by going directly IMO.

Best thing I did three years ago was to pass my advanced test and join the IAM.

It halved my motorbike insurance - I now pay £196 fully comp on a Honda Blackbird with breakdown cover included.

Just renewed the car insurance for my Ibiza 130TDi sport.

Yes I'm over 40 with 21 years no claims but :

£276 fully comp

Protected no claims

15,000 miles per year

Business use included

£100 excess

80 days european cover included

Legal cover included

Tried another 5 Companys.

Aviva have come up the the cheapest at £337.99 :|

So im going to go with them, so bloody fed up keep getting quotes, after approx 15 individual quotes, i reckon they (insurance companys) know more about me than i do :D

the only thing they didn't ask was my inside leg measurements!

It's still alot more expensive than what i intended to pay at £69 more than last year, but i've got to have insurance so i bit the bullet :swear:

My Bike insurance renewed 2 Months ago was £169 Fully Comp, thats on a ZX6 Kawasaki Ninja, it actually makes you wonder why my standard dependable car is so much dearer to insure than a 150+ mph jazzed up sports bike. :devil:

Still im not moaning about that, good value as far as im concerned ;)
