Can all SE and Elegance combi owners please vote to confirm if their car is fitted with the:

"chrome trim on lower boot"

Now it doesn't state in the spec list that this is only available on the hatchback and not the estate, but I have not seen a photo of the estate with a chrome trim on the tailgate.

(If your car has the trim then please state which country the car is registered in and the spec of the car - a photo of the trim would be even better! emoticon-0148-yes.gif )

TIA.

I'm not fortunate enough to have my Superb yet, so I've not voted, but this image from the AutoTrader website clearly shows a uk spec Superb Estate Elegance with the chrome trim :)

Ah rite, wrong trim (mine has that) this is the trim i am referring to:

Ah, apologies, that'll be me mis-reading your original post

I've had two Estates on test, a 10 plate and a 60 plate and I don't recall either of them having this trim. The same set of photos shows that the 59 plate car Auto Trader have dies not have the trim.

Page 24 of the 2011 Superb brochure shows the superb twin hatch with the chrome trim, and the estate without, they're only diagrams though, rather than actual photographs... but I can see where this is going!

My Y11 Combi has no chrome trim on the actual boot lid like the twin hatch, but as far as I know they all have the anodised tin trim the same as the twin hatch across the rear of the floor with the inset for the locking mechanism as shown in the picture.

I don't think the combi has this trim on the tailgate, the people that have voted yes have miss-understood the question I believe.

No Trim on mine

This is my belief also, but wanted to make sure emoticon-0148-yes.gif

(FWIW BATTY who voted that his Elegance has the trim owns a saloon not an estate)

Another misleading Skoda UK brochure, they really do beggar belief!

Despite an extensive Google image search I couldn’t find an estate with the chrome strip.

If I had an SE or above Superb on order and it arrived without the chrome strip on the bottom of the boot lid I wouldn't be very happy...

This is the from the UK brochure…

SuperbBootChromeTrim.jpg

no chrome trim on the door of mine, and i've never seen it trimmed as the hatch.

It also says in the brochure, that specs are subject to change without prior notice... so Skoda cover their backs...

That would normally be an acceptable excuse, but given that the trim has been mentioned in all 3 of the brochures since the Superb estate/combi was launched in the UK they can't get away with that one!

Since when did 'lower boot' mean boot lid/door?

I take it to be a chrome trim on the lower lip of the boot entrance, which is exactly what appears to be shown in the pic of the black estate.

Is it Chome? , I thought it was aluminium, I should know the answer but mine still got the blue protective plastic on it and I've not taken it off yet.

It seems to be aluminium but it is so thin and poor quality that it could be chromed. I left the blue plastic on my previous Superbs until it stared to look a bit tatty, and then replaced with Duct Tape. This came off very easily after two years and the trim looked like new.

I am sure it only relates to the above trim, I have seen many Combi's and none have had trims on the Tailgate but all had the inner trim.

Well I read it as the lower part of the bootlid (tailgate), not the boot floor slam panel trim, as par for the course the poor wording used in the Skoda brochures lead to confusion - hence my question.

It looks like stainless steel to me, it is certainly not chrome (as it is non magnetic) I know on my MKI Superb that bit was stainless.

If it is actually that part that the brochure is referring to then what is the 'chrome' trim on the Rosso Superb twinhatch that I posted the photo of? there is no other mention of chrome on the boot in the brochure, both Audi and VW have estate models with 'chrome' on the bottom of the tailgate so it is obviously something VAG do.
