Superb II Greenline Elegamce

Featured Replies

After much deliberation and suffering by my wife (We visited lots of garages). I have just chosen a Superb 2.0TDi CR Elegance Estate with the following options for a company vehicle, I will have to contribute £25.00 per month + the tax to this.

Colour: White.

Leather: Oynx.

Park Assist.

Sunset Windows.

Upgraded Sound System.

Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror.

As the order for this was only placed with the lease company on Friday and is not yet with the dealer should I change to the Greenline II and have the same options except the Sound system which is not avaliable, this will save me nearly £70 per month in tax etc. Is the extra HP from the 2.0 engine worth the money..... :S I will have to let work know in the next day or two.

Thanks.....

Why White? Flat white at that!

Think it'll be a hard colour to sell on at a later date... esp with the GreenLine engine, as people will think Taxi.

The 1.6 CR engine gets a good review for it's size, but the 170 was the only choice for me. - i just cant imagine the engine in my wife's Cee'd, with less power, pulling a much larger car!

I chose white, as Metallic was an additional £7.00 per month on the cost, and meant that my contribution would be even higher. As for selling the car on in the future, then not really my problem as it belongs to the lease company, however the Greenline is cheaper to lease meaing I would not contribute anything at all and then also save on the tax. Now if it was my own car and I could even afford it, well then it would be the 170BHP 4x4....

true....

If you can choose any Superb, then the 140 or 170 CR diesels are both good choices. Not knowing your annual mileage or driving style it is hard to recommend a particular engine. I'd say go for either the 140/170 CR engine if you can afford to pay the extra fuel and BIK tax.

If you need to trim costs a bit, then why not ditch the leather and opt for a hatch rather than the estate? The hatch has almost as much space (easily swallows a 6ft+ Christmas tree). Personally, I'd also not bother with Park Assist which is a lot of money for an electronic novelty. You'll soon learn how to judge the cars length.

The 1.6 CR will save a lot of fuel and BIK tax, however, I've yet to drive a Superb with this particular engine. I'm not wholly convinced it will be as satisfying to drive as my old 1.9Tdi PD engine.

White may be fashionable now, however, do you really want to follow the herd? I doubt it'll still be popular in 3-4 years time. There are some great metallic colours which you should consider. For instance, the Superb looks great in Rosso Brunello, which also hides winter dirt extremely well.

Annual Milage about 25000 Miles, about 50% on the motorway and 50% on A and B roads. I currently own a V50, but the car before this was a Octavia vRS 2.0 Petrol and the one before the Superb I 1.9TDI. My main reason for thinking of the GreenLine over the 2.0TDI 140 CR is the benefit from the tax savings. Over the term of the lease - 3 years I would save £2000.00 (includes my personal contribution), my employer pays all fuel and I pay back private at the current tax rates, so the MPG is not a real issue.

The other consideration... is the removal of child benefit with the 140BHP P11D value I would be pused into the 40% tax bracket meaning a loss of child benefit - £120 per month!!!

I also need an estate to meet my employers latest requirements.

Do I vote with the heart - 2.0TDI 140 (I have test driven it - great), or vote with the head and take a leap of faith as I will not be able to test drive the car - greenline II.......!!!

Hi and welcome to the forum!

You will definitely save some good money on the Greenline. But it all depends on your own preferences. Age and family situation (kids) will play in as well. Do you like driving sporty (oh well, your looking at a Superb..) or do you appreciate a more relaxed stile? If you spend much time driving (and with the the car loaded...) you probably would miss the oumph from the bigger engine, but thats just me. Same goes for the upgraded sound system. A real music lover would put in a superior after market system, just a music fan might endure the upgraded sound system and "just for the radio" listeners could well live without it.

My Park assist will be used, no doubt about it, but watch out for the kerbs! Have yet to demo this for my wife...

And then the colour... well, I can understand why you like it but you'll have to like washing it often then! This one dirty...

My two cents.
