Heater fan not working

Featured Replies

When I started my Superb this morning the heater fan wouldn't switch on at all at any speed/any direction :(

A bit frustrating as not only cold to drive, but hard to get and keep the windscreen de-misted. When the engine warmed up there was a little bit of heat trickling through, but no fan at all. It worked fine on Friday, which was the last time I drove it.

I've booked into the local dealer (tomorrow) for them to investigate under warranty, but thought I would post it as a problem here and ask whether anyone else has experienced the same?

cheers

Kevin

What was the problem ? I have the same problem with my Octavia II estate 2007 . checked all the fuses. but nothing.

Booked an appointment at the local garage for tomorrow (if they have the time.....). They have some kind of diagnostic tool, so I hope they can figure it out. 200km to the nearest Skoda dealer. and it's 2 mountains to pass through. I really don't want to drive there with no airflow =(

I own a 2012 Superb Elegance and have exactly the same fault. I've been away for a week. I used the car for the first since getting back and the fan does not work. Like you say this is inconvenient and dangerous especially in Winter. Getting a little bit disappointed with car this should not be failing after such a short time. Dealer can only book me in a weeks time. Did both of you get a reason for the problem and a solution? Been through all the relevant fuses and they are all intact.

I have a 2009 Superb and had the same problem a couple of years ago. Skoda dealer fixed in a day under warranty - They said they had replaced the heater box.

Thanks for your reply. Looks like the fan is not that reliable! I am still waiting for my Monday appointment, which is proving inconvenient with this cold weather.

The fan on My Octavia 2 (56 plate) packed in over the summer. I had to replace the motor and it wasn't cheap! £270 it cost but essential especially in the winter

The only good thing is the car is still under warranty.

2009 Superb, heater box went with only weeks left on warranty, that and rubbish battery the only problems I've had so far.

I had mine replaced for a total outlay of £175 inc diagnostics, part and fitting . Unfortunately I was out of warranty on mine so it was out of my own pocket.

Do not believe the main dealer if they tell you it takes 6 hours to fit. A good independent took 1 hour to remove and replace mine.

Thanks SuperbBarto2012

My 2009 wasn't working when I bought it in September 2013 - the seller fitted a replacement fan from a Passat.

An aftermarket fan off ebay is around £40 -

Its not too hard to replace as its just up behind the glove box - so have to remove some trim and be careful with the airbag.

Thanks all for your comments.

Looks like these fans are not that robust.

Thankfully Main Agent replaced mine as the car is still under warranty.

Fingers crossed this will last especially when the car comes out of warranty.
