VRS in for a service and my 7.99 speakers

Featured Replies

hi all just dropped off my vrs for a service at skoda. and went round to autoworld to pick up my 7.99 Blaupunkt speakers woop woop they will be getting fitted later. and also am guna disconnect the tweeters in the back doors..:rofl::rofl:

I'd be interested to know who made the OEM ones, actually - Blaupunkt make some of the HUs for Skoda, you see...

Aren't some of them Grundig too?

No, you're right. Memory fail on my part! Blaupunkt make HUs for VW - it's Grundig and Technisat for Skoda. But while I can see the logic in using different manufacturers for the different HUs as they will look and perform differently for each of the VAG brands, I'm just curious as to how the Blaupunkt speakers compare quality-wise to what's already in there, or even if they're actually the same because a lot of people seem to think the speakers themselves are OK. Certainly the (Grundig) Symphony from an Octy that's in my car in place of the original (Technisat) Symphony makes a much nicer noise...

I've always found the standard speakers to be pretty good in my vRS with a good head unit. If I could stop my door cars rattling when I turn it up loud I'll be sorted.

I sorted that by just jamming loads of insulation between the door carrier and the door card, so that it was under a slight amount of tension when it was screwed down...

I'll have to give it a go. It's really annoying.

Cars are for driving not for listening to Hi Fi quiality music and home Hi Fi is where I can listen and enjoy my favourites. No matter how much money you throw at ICE it will never be enjoyable and you will never get it right, louder, yes but not enjoyable.

TBH, i poped an £80 Sony Hu in and the bass is enought to shake the wing mirrors, the tones are right, no need to mess around with the speakers

On my Pioneer HU I have low end cut off at 125hz in an attempt to help stop the door cards rattling, which it does to some extent.

Ooooh thats a sweeping assumption if i ever heard one :)

Personally i find listening to music in my car much much more enjoyable than listening at home. You can make cars sound very nice for not that much money, often getting a better sound quality and response than if you spent an equal amount on a home system purely just due to the ease in making your car a great sound enclosure (when i say ease, its much more likely you can create a good sound environment in your car than create a specific room in your house with the same properties).

Anyways, i'm about to throw a heap of money at my system - so we'll see

Rubbish! :D

You will obviously not get a Car HIFI sounding as good as a home setup but you can get an excellent sounding system in a car which is thoroughly enjoyable. I was blown away by the Audio Advice demo car I took a seat in recently and I'm a bit of a hifi geek. the clarity and detail of the music was very impressive though in fairness it was set up by pros. I drive my car 2 hours a day because I have to and that is the best time I have for listening to music given we have a little one at the home and there is no-longer such a thing as peace and quiet. Might I also point out that Music doesn't have to be High Fidelity to be enjoyable, plenty of live shows I've been to have been very musically enjoyable even though the PA in the venue wasn't all the great.

Just got different priorities to you lot, music at home, the car is used for the track. By the way, the Clio has a nice soundtrack at 7k.revs, YES, music to my ears.
