Skoda Fabia on the pull!

Featured Replies

Hi there, the faults are coming thick and fast now ! I seem to have a Fabia on the pull !

I was traveling down the Dual Carriage way today and when I was accelerating it seemed to want to pull to the right, more so when the the turbo come in? Its very much like excessive torque steer. This is the first time it has done this with me but my wife complained about it a few weeks ago, it was bad enough that she actually stopped to phone me to see if I knew what it was, I just put it down to her not having driven the car much as the next time I drove it, it seemed fine. Puzzler?

It seems to happen when you accelerate between 70-80 mph.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks in anticipation.

Lots of things. You need to be logical in working it out. Could be tracking, suspension 'system' or old tyres or (doesn't make sense but from experience) the shock absorbers. First quick check would be to swop wheels around. Any vibration with the pull?

Best of luck

yes i agree just check your tyre presures first tho, then change the wheels around, then maybe get it tracked up might be an option? i assume you havnt hit a kerb or anything?

my fabia pulls to the left, well has done since i brought it. I did the above and tracking was ok.I did itmyself as i work in a garage so have access to the kit for free!!!

mine is my N/S console bush which is worn and causing it to pull.

good luck Damien.

Its into the garage on friday so will check what you have mentioned then, the funny thing is that it only does this every now and then, was doing it for about twenty miles and then just stopped. The first time it happened when my wife had the car I asked her to check the tyres, I have also done this and they seem fine. I have not hit any kerbs but then again I have only owned the car for a short while so it maybe that this could have happened before my ownership, but if this was the case it would always pull. It does have a slight pull to the left normally but this is slight. I will get the car up on the ramps on friday. Something has just occured to me, I am needing to replace the strutt top bearings as the clunk when parking, could it be that if a strutt top bearing is not allowing a spring to come all the way back to where it would normally rest, that when accellerating there is a sprung force wanting to turn the steering in that direction with the help of the torque steer? Just a thought.

Have replaced a knackered wheel bearing and need to do wishbones now, very steep learning curve !!!!!!!!! Thanks for all your help on this subject.
